Wigan Athletic are interested in James McFadden, or so say the Mail in a report that also suggests that the Latics are looking to pick up rumoured Blues target Nicky Maynard from Bristol City for £2m.

McFadden re-signed for Everton as a free agent earlier this season but has has managed just one start, that in the FA Cup against Tamworth earlier this month.

I posted on the bily thread that him going is good along with two others i believe we would not miss. Add jimmy to that list and even the savings on wages will begin to erode the debt at a quick rate

Well Moyes got rid of McFadden and then basically immediately re-signed him in Billy.

I never thought we could sign anyone slower than McFadden and then Billy appeared. So now Billys gone he may as well flog Scottish Rooney as well.

I suppose you lot will be laughing and joking all the way to the Championship and still be raving about Moyes and his great fire sales.

The man got rid of two strikers and the most creative player we had on deadline day, then brought in a headless chicken who just's annoys him and a useless Argie with the touch of a Scud. We are about to lose Bily at less than half the price we paid for him and all we have as replacement is a short term loan for Donovan, and let's hope he doesn't get injured before it ends.

As for McFadden, he is now probably the most skilful footballer we have on our books, just look back to his goals and assists in the past. Moyes has never known how to play the lad, even when he gets a game. So who will we be left with? Vic, Tim and Saha. Playing like the 3 stooges at the moment, but don't worry, if a bid comes in, I'm sure Moyes won't let these treasures go for any price.

You really think Moyes was happy to get rid of all our attackers this summer? What sort of manager, even Moyes, would want to gimp himself?

Pretty sure the impending financial meltdown and the interference of the banks, not to mention the board, had a bit more say in who was and was not kept, but Moyes takes the brunt of the criticism because the others are faceless or not in the frontline. Managers manage, the business men handle that side of the club, obviously with some input from the manager, but when needs must, as they did in the summer, obviously, then players were sold.

Someone mentioned when we signed Gibson that a wise move for a club in our situation is to sign off-contract players who you can then sell for a fee. Fair enough you have to pay a wage for them (I doubt Jimmy was on more than 20k a week), but you get a squad member for training, and then the fee is almost like free money. It happened with Lucas Neill (I hated him with a passion but it was good business), and now it seems to have happened again.

I'm not sure we would command a fee for him. It would depend on the contract we offered him I guess.

ie, if we offered only a pay-as-you-play deal, then I doubt we could sell for a fee

if we offered a year deal then I would imagine we could sell for a small fee.

Alex Mullan @325, Moyes has always said that all player decisions are his alone and the board have backed him %100. So by not coming out and telling us any different, what are we to make of this? Either he is a total lame brain, selling quality players and not replacing them or he is a dishonest, selfish lackey who is happy to sit there taking the flak while having the safest seat in management and getting paid an obscene amount of money for actually doing nothing of any value for our club. Either way, I don't want him here. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum and if this is his best then I'd fucking hate to see his failures

By the way, have any of you here ever seen McFadden play? Have you seen Anichebe, Saha, Strac or even the new Cahill? Well although JMC has his faults, he has never been given a fair crack and now we have him here, how about a few games to see how he goes and if he is worse than those above, I will agree, but we have a small squad as it is so FFS how can we afford to be getting rid of people who can actually put that piece of inflated leather in the net . . you know, like Tim Howard can from 90 yards but Saha can't from 5

Get rid of McFadden, his strike rate is only 1 in 5. Then again, what's Cahills lately and Sahas and apart from his 2 lately, how many years did it take for Vic to start scoring. I seriously despair for Everton FC. Not just because of our imbecilic manager, or our couldn''t care less Chairman, it's the fans who worry me the most. Screaming for something different yet applauding the manager who's broke more records than any other, i. e. lowest ever league points, highest ever European defeat, worst defeat since 1949, worst home defeat, lowest league scorers etc. for selling a player who's had less than 10 mins of PL action since his return. duh!!!
