There are strong roumours afoot that Everton have appointed Christian Purslow as a 'consultant' to promote selling of the club but BBC reporter Phil McNulty has tweeted in response:

"Everton sources categorically deny rumours that former Liverpool MD Christian Purslow is now working for the club in an advisory capacity."

I`m confused now. Often happens! Colin describes Purslow as an `Anfield failure` on the Quinn Investments thread, but I thought they brought him in to SELL LFC... and he did. So that makes him a success in my book. Hope he does the same for us and I`ll be first to buy him `a large `un`!

Apparently the ex LFC director has become a consultant for Everton. Has anyone else heard this one?

News coming out today states Everton have employed Christian Purslow to find a buyer for the club. Other reports state Innercircle Sports are also involved.

I think this is great news and a good move from Bill.

These are the salesman I'd expect Bill to employ;

In no particular order, Frank Butcher, Gerald Ratner, Swiss Tony, The fella who does them safestyle uk, I say safestyle uk adverts, George W Bush or Donald Trump.

The fact it's Purslow means he has exceeded my expectations a million fold.

Nice to see he's coming round to the BU's way of thinking. He'll be going on marches soon!!!

Phil #599, it was Martin Broughton that was brought in as Chairman to sell the RS. It was not the responsibility of of the MD (Purslow).

Purslow has been in/on the media alot talking about Football finances, especially on Radio Five Live.

I think he was on the 'Monday night club' this week, where he was asked mainly about Arsenal's business model.

He very obviously knew what he was on about. So then the question springs to mind... when you interviewed Kenwright on the same station some months back, why didn't you ask him more pertinent business questions?

The whole Purslow interview of Kenwright was very soft & matey, allowing the usual 'True Blue Bill' fluff & nonsense to be esposed by our chairman ad nauseum.

More spin about selling the Club, leaked by the Club then subsequently denied by sources close to the Club, the very day they announce next years season ticket prices.

I've been a season ticket holder since 1982 and I have been around the block enough times to smell strategic propaganda from a mile off from our current Guardians

You can tell the club's ear to the ground is very uneasy about this years season ticket sales. Yes the heat is off Billy no mates at the moment because our fortunes have thankfully improved on the field, but that nevertheless does not help reinforce the Boardroom's empty promises. Only real actions will do that.

Inner Circle Sports appointment is a positive move, but ask yourself why this partnership was not forged last year, or previous years for that matter?

I know many fellow blues like myself who live for the Club but no longer respect its rhetoric because (IMHO) today?s spin is coated in agenda.

Finally Jim, it gives me absolutely no satisfaction making these observations but to answer your question I would hope we sold thousands. Because at the end of the day, as much as I moan, I know come April I too will hand over my cash. As frustrated as that make me feel by our hierarchy?s inability to think strategically when it really matters!!!

Karl (#806), the club are really between a rock and a hard place on this. The last 3 years has seen season ticket prices lagging in effect by 12 months, with the early bird pricing for existing ST holders (we have no waiting list).

For whatever reason you may believe (economy, fare on the pitch, happenings - or lack of - off the pitch), season tickets are down this year significantly.

Therefore it's unlikely a similar lagged approach would work, and so the prices have to go up. The economists at EFC (!) obviously believe the elasticity is such that an increase (with attendant drop in numbers) yields greater revenue than holding/reducing.

Smart move on the kids seasons though, after all, they'll need an adult with them.
