McAleny likely to leave this summer

Everton reserve striker, Conor McAleny, who made a promising debut, albeit for just a few minutes, at the Emirates earlier this season in the Blues' defeat to Arsenal, has apparently rejected terms at Goodison and is likely to leave at the end of the season on a free transfer.

The 19-year-old is thought to be interesting Derby County and Southampton.

Sounds an odd story. Can't imagine terms being better at Derby, ffs, and if it is first team experience he is after, why not ask to go out on loan. Any substance to this one?

If I was him, I'd fuck off as well. He's got too much pace, skill and potential to make it here. If he was big-boned and useless then he would have a chance. Those few minutes at The Emirates showed he had more ability than Anichebe would ever have and yet another example of a young player showing promise only to be dropped and never seen again (at least I can't remember him making another appearance).

Ray & Mike... I'm with you two 100% on this, he was our top scorer at one point & seemed to be develpoing ok.

Is he injured or just another victim of the 'Goodison Triangle' ? Apparently more strikers have been lost without trace to this phenomenon, in the last ten years, than ships or planes in the 'Bermuda triangle' !

Where the hell does this myth that Moyes is great at bringing youth through stem from? McAleny is the type of player we currently lack, who can turn a game around in the last 20 mins, a la Defoe or, dare I say it, Beckford. God give me strength.

I find it a useful rule of thumb never to believe anything published by the Daily Mail. However, I do agree with the comments regarding Vellios ? couldn't believe he wasn't even on the bench ahead of McFadden and Big Vic.

So, we can't/won't offer McAleny improved terms. Is he wanting parity with Fellaini? Or just a bit more than he's on now... And is he not getting it because

(a) He IS asking for too much.
(b) He just isn't very good anyway.
(c) After paying the Scottish Rooney, Mucha, Hahnemann, Uncle Tom Cobbley and the bloke who is going to lag the pipes, we haven't got any money?

No, Kevin, it's not an excuse to have a go at Moyes, or at least I wasn't; it's questioning just exactly how bad our financial state is.

If he's just not good enough, it might be an idea to let us know, don't you think? Or let him have some game time... I mean, I was quite impressed with his cameo appearance at The Emirates and looked forward to seeing if there was more to his game.

Plenty of young players have shown promise and disappeared without trace because they clearly weren't up to the required standard. If that is the case, it would reduce the amount of stick Moyes takes from people who look for any excuse to have a go at him.

Let's be honest, after the Gosling fiasco, anything is possible.

Like others have said, I'm more concerned about Vellios. HOW can he not even make it onto the bench? Injuries aside, obviously.

Struggling to think of any young player that has gone thru the ranks and we have let go that has come back to haunt us? I'm sure someone will remind me tho. Spose we had to buy Baines and Jagielka back?

As much as this story sounds like bullshit, I assure you it's 100% true. Those who live in Liverpool will know the club Mojo (just of Seel Street) and he's often in there and one night I got talking to him at the bar and asked him what he thought of Moyes and I shit you not he replied with:

"As grateful as I am for him giving me a chance - he's an awful manager. He has no tactical knowledge whatsoever and is just a motivator."

Maybe that's why he's thinking of moving away!

I haven't said he's not good enough. I don't know if he's good enough or not, and I doubt if you do either, I've said IF he's not good enough. Or give him some game time to see if he might make the grade.
Anichebe has had more than enough opportunities and, to my mind, is lacking in ability and attitude.

Its Vellios's own fault he doesn't get in the first eleven or on the bench...he scores goals. Racks up six then "disapears"
