Doncaster midfielder Giles Barnes will become a free agent when his contract runs down at the end of the season, and the Daily Mail claims Everton are one of the clubs who will "scramble" to sign him for free, despite him having suffered a cruciate ligament injury which kept him on the sidelines for 18 months.

It came from Daily Mail, of course it's a lie. They probably never had a decent racist story to print so they picked Everton's name out of a hat followed by any random player; like a kid picking his Grand National horse in the Echo.

A career blighted by injury but already been rejected by Derby, Fulham and West Brom. Hardly likely to be much of a 'scramble' going on. Complete non-story.
