Ward set to be Baines's replacement

The Mirror also claims that Manchester United will be 'encouraged' to find out Everton have already starting looking for Baines's replacement as they have 'made plans' to recruit Republic of Ireland international Stephen Ward.

Ward is in Poland and Ukraine on Euro 2012 duty but the 26-year-old is expected to quit Molineux this summer.

Sunderland and Stoke have already made their interest known in left-back Ward, but Everton have also asked to be kept up-to-date with developments.

Ward was one of the few highlights of Wolves' dismal relegation campaign and was one of only two players, Fulham's Brede Hangeland being the other, to play every minute of the Premier League season.

I don't know why everyone keeps paying attention to the crap The Mirror comes out with. It was only a few weeks ago they said Baines was going to Man Utd for £5 mil. And as for this story... replace Baines with Ward? ? Ha! Do me a favor.

The worrying thought about this one is that it is plausible.

Ward started off in Ireland as a striker. When in England he was moved to left wing (still an attacking player) and then finally setled as a left-back who likes to get forwards.

Cole / Evra / Baines he is not, but he's not bad. I'll now be watching him play against Srna of Croatia with some interest this evening.

Have to agree with Gavin would be a very poor replacement. Not the kind of player we should be looking at.

Srna is quality would love him here.

Have not really noticed Ward enough to comment but that not a great start. Difficult I suppose when you're playing for a very limited Wolves team. Would prefer Ally Cissokho myself!!

I confidently predict that either no or at most one top Everton player (Baines, Heitinga, Jagielka, Fellaini, Rodwell, Jelavic) will leave this summer. You can insult me to your heart's content if I'm proven wrong.

Worst left back performance I've seen. And if he thinks that passing to an Everton forward will win us over. . I'd sooner see Bidwell given his chance, but I honestly don't think Leighton will go
