Real Madrid will supposedly 'battle' with Chelsea for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, as 'reports' claim that Mourinho has turned to the Belgium ace to add strength to his midfield and will now rival former club Chelsea for his signature.

If all these rumours are true then the price should start at 30 million with all the interest. Still, at any price, I want him to stay which to be honest I think he will.

Nobody want to lose Felli but being realistic it appears someone needs to be sold and he's one of the two most in demand, along with Bainesy. All of that is of course a reflection on the deep financial cack we're in, for which the board have to take much responsibility.

For once however (Dan Gosling springs to mind) we have at least tied a player up on a long term contract so if we do lose him we'll at least get the proper price.

But fingers crossed we lose nobody and maybe add Johnson on loan and for once get off to a half decent start.

Sod getting players like Johnson in loan. What is the point? We are ok for a season and then back in the shit and a player down again. We need to keep the number of players we own and add a few loan players.
I just can't for the life of me understand selling our squad players and getting in loan players that we cant keep.

I can sense a lot of anger growing now about the financial state of our great club, for a few years now we have been on the cusp of something great, only for someone to be sold and take us back a peg, all we need is 20 million, I know I say 'all' but in football terms is not a lot, but that 20 million investment in 2 quality players would in my opinion see us top 4, which I must add, brings an automatic 20 million windfall, I don't want us to do a leeds, but surely 20 million would not see us bankrupt. Please EFC sort it out.

Felli is pretty much irreplacable in our current circumstances, an icon and a bloody good player and a boon to wig sellers the length of the city, So if we are inclined to sell, him, baines or anyone... Can we please so what every other club does dear board of directors, kenneth of cringeworthy and davy, hog them all around europe not just the default "off to man u coz they have first option on our squad". Ta'

If our owners won't let go of some small amount of their fortune, the true decline begins and no more kidding ourselves. We have a squad that needs only a few additions to challenge for top honors.

What other recourse do they see? The real estate development idea appears dead. To make their property more attractive to buyers, they'll have to have said property, Everton Football Club, finish higher up the Table.

Not to mention, if they do, they'll be hailed everywhere as the shining (and singular) example of how a team can be successful in the EPL without wild spending. "Look at Everton. It can be done".

Why not? Our owners have the money and to spare.

I like Fellli a lot but if we get top dollar then use some of the money to sign up Pienaar and then let Barclay, Osman and Rodwell fight it out for the right to pay alongside Pienaar and Gibson.

Who the hell knows if it's true, but I'd much rather sell to Real Madrid than an English side. Don't have to face him twice a year, no hard feelings, watch him flourish in another league. It just feels better psychologically to sell to a non-English side. Not to mention they generally pay a decent price.

I think that expecting 2 decent players to turn us into a top 4 club is a bit too optimistic, unless all the youngsters on the fringe of the 1st team finally fulfil all their potential and everyone else is at their peak as well.
Our squad still seems too small to be able to cope with a bad run of injuries to key players, and we will be relying a lot on our luck holding if we don't add a couple of tricky wide players, another striker capable of 20+ goals (and 30+ games), and cover on the left hand side of defence. As things stand, we are 4 senior players down (the three loanees and McFadden) and some of the remainder are likely to continue to struggle to live up to previous standards even if they don't decide to move on.
To me that is at least £30 million required for 4 decent players (wages included or more likely in addition) and that will have to come from the board and / or selling another top player. I don't think we have 3 or 4 board members who are likely to give up about £10 million each, but I expect they will scrape together enough for 1 player and the other three or four new faces will be funded by selling one of our top players.
If we are selling to buy, I don't care who buys as long as they pay top dollar, and promptly, though it is preferable if the player doesn't come back to haunt you. Always wish players who have served us well the best for their future careers, as long as they haven't messed us around in some way.

I'm with you Mark. He would be going there as a bench warmer, because I don't see him replacing either Alonso or Khedira in that midfield.

What the hell is so special about this clumsy clown. He has no pace, not really that good in the air, has no killer defense splitting pass. Yes, looks fancy on the ball and good at breaking up attacks but so is Neville/Jack Rodwell and Gibson. Now Moyes want to play him in the Cahill role. Give me a break!

I want another Arteta or Fernandes. I want a pacy winger its just a pity that Drenthe was an arsehole. So cash him in for £32mil and sell Baines for 20. and give me kyle Naughton from Norwich for a start. Cahill can go as well although I'm happy to keep Neville as I see him as our next manager. Has all the qualities including a winning mentality.

Dour Davey can go as, mark my words, normal service will resume once we get under way and the talk will be the magical 40 points and the knife to a gunfight. Don't expect Rodgers to be a whipping boy for Moyes.

Marca, the Spanish sports daily with close links to Real Madrid, are reporting that Mourinho has his eye on Fellaini for next season. According to the paper the club have said ?40 million plus taxes. Here´s the link:

Just been reading some of the interview Fellaini gave, he states he is very happy at the club, but goes on to say "I am ambitious, I want to play in the champions league, or the Europa cup, if an ambitious club comes in for me, why not?"

"Every year they say I'll be transfered to the left or right, but I'm still at Everton" He then goes on to say "If it comes, I take, if it does not come, I stay at Everton"

It sounds like if an offer comes in from a top club, he wants away.

Brian, you could replace Fellaini's name with a few others there.. and the sentiments would all be the same. They are all the same these days.

I want Champions League Etc.. easy cop out. If you want to play in Europe, earn your money and do the business week-in & week-out for Everton then!

If Fellaini went to Spain, as I said earlier, he wouldn't play for Madrid, Ozil, Alonso, Khedira are all better players, Fellaini's style would get him booked every game over there.

I actually like him now as a player, but all this, "my dad's my agent, and he says I should be playing for such and such" bollocks is becoming a pain in the arse now.
