It's no secret that the club is a bit hard up at the moment, but we should at least get a fair price for our star players, who we are being forced to sell.

I tend to the subscribe to the blind dart player theory of rumours during the closed season - it goes like this: A blind dart player throws a hundred darts and sooner or later one is going to hit the board - when that happens the dart player taps his nose and says... 'I aimed for that'.

We're going to lose one of our assets sooner or later; everyone knows that - but these publications are all about the 99 times they get it wrong and not the one time they get it right. The writers of these sites don't have access to managers, players or agents - and if an agent is trying to engineer a move, they're going to go to their tame reporters in the national press - and even then these guys will write 'exclusives' they've concocted from their imagination and guesswork to fulfil their word-count obligations for the sports editors of their papers.

As has been said before- don't believe the hype until they're waving the club scarves around their heads and wearing the shirt.

Sell Fellaini for the reported release clause (£24M). Sign Hargreaves or Manuel Fernandes (or possibly both) as replacement on free transfers, play Rodwell and Barkley more and still have £24M to spend on the three players we need to play in the two wide positions and just off Jelavic.

Alberto Gillardino of Fiorentina did that and he regrets it now. He should have, in truth, moved on to a club where he could have further progressed as a player, and had a better chance of hoisting trophies.
