Speculation today that Leighton Baines will be the subject of a £15 million bid. Fellaini has already stated he wants play Champions League football so he will more than likely be gone in the summer, as i don't believe we will get top 4. The truth of the matter is the manager, love him or loath him, will never be able to make this club a success. The inability of the Chairman to create a business that raises the required funding for transfer fees means that every time Moyes gets within touching distance of having the squad to compete, the Chairman cuts his legs off by selling his players. Until the present Chairman and his inept board leave the club, it will be same old, same old. As he sells players and does not reinvest all of the incoming fees, he also takes the club debt down. In the eventuality of a takeover that means more profit for the shareholders. Especially the major shareholder, who is....

Sounds to me like the plan is already well under way, never in David Moyes's tenure have we had so many of our star players linked with other clubs, especially in the middle of November.

This is the reason I want us to get to the 40+ pts mark asap. As for Kenwright , whatever he is up to, you can bet your life that he'll come out of it smelling of roses.

Kenwrights an irrelevence. More of our players have been linked away because we have more players that would be desired by bigger clubs simple as that. By the sound of it the major problem is Moyes getting out of his depth and not being able to man-manage players who are at the top level of the game.

If we are going to lose Jelavic, Fellaini and Bainsey then we lose them. Its a shame....and....then we man up and crack on. There's probably £50mn in players there. Add in the new TV money coming in and theres a big war-chest there for a new manager to start shaping the team their way....even if the banks skim half off and Moyesie does leave in the summer!. We don't even need to replace Baines as Oviedo looks like he can do a job and we have Garbutt lining up behind him.

Lets face it things have been worse for us!

No doubt Fellaini will be leaving in the summer. It sounds as if he can't wait to either. I doubt we can continue to maintain is expensive contract for another four years too.

As for Baines, I hope not. He's probably one of the best left full backs in european football at the moment, no exaggeration or bias there ;)

I'd say it all depends on whether we qualify for the Champions league. If we don't, I wouldn't be surprised if players like Mirallas, Jelavic, Baines and Fellaini start looking away.

I suppose the manager's contract also is a factor. He has not made any public desire to want to sign a new one and stay. And let's not forget he was clearly open to an approach from Tottenham in the summer.

All media jargon again, I wish that journalists could write decent articles in their time instead of wasting it.

Baines has been going to United for over three years now. We have no need to sell Baines or Jelavic, how much would we get for our LB anyway, £15mill at the very most? I would tell them to fuck off.

Moyes will not sell him, he's nearly 28 and United have just bought Buttner? Why would they need another LB?

But I do think Fellaini will be sold at some point in the foreseeable future, maybe at the end of the season, if we don't get European football in some way or another. He would bring in £30 mill or more so there is an upside to his eventual departure (if it happens, that is).

Anyway, like I said in the Jelavic post, I don't read into anything until it's a credible news source; we should concentrate on the team not on nonsense. But I know that's hard when we are in such poor form.

Players and managers will come and go
But there will always be an Everton football club you know
For in the passage of time
Many a moment has been sublime
and there's more to come so don't be so low.

Must leave the JIm Beam alone!!

Steve @ 472

We don't need to replace Baines?

By reducing the debt, he actually makes the team a more attractive preposition, and keeps it afloat!!! It's shit, but in reality Everton are going to have to continue to operate this way until we either produce another Rooney and flog him for £50 million or find someone willing to spank a whole lot of money on the club as a whole.

If Moyes goes, it will make a massive difference to how the business generates income, as he has been responsible for finding players at a good price that he can develop to such a level that they increase in value. How many other premier league managers do that on such a consistent basis? Wenger ... any others?

At the end of the day, there are only a few clubs world wide that have the financial clout to hold on to top players indefinitely. Even Man Utd sell when the offer is good enough. The key is to get enough back to not only replace players, but also pay the banks back.

In an ideal world the debt wouldn't exist, because the chairman would have either pumped money in or been better at generating income in the past, but look at how many teams are in debt and continually make losses and you will see we are not alone, Bolton make Everton look healthy!

Until we all wake up and get rid of Kenwright, we will never get back to where we belong. It's time everyone realized that the club is run the way it is is to keep Kenwright in his position!!

Sometimes you have got to be careful about what you wish for... by that, I mean we all want new owners but what does that bring? With the exception of City and Chelsea, what other new owners have taken over a club and everything has been rosy?

At Villa, they started off spending but, 12 months later, sold all their best players and look at them now. Look at them across the road — they've been taken over twice, once nearly going to the wall (unfortunately they didn't) and now they are cutting back on spending and wages they pay.

As much as I want a new owner, the thing Kenwright has given us is stability which has enabled us to get to the level we are and for us to progress further requires a really rich person to take over. This is the closest I think we have been to the top 4 and best football we have played since the mid-80s and we are probably 3 players away from really challenging.

It can be so frustrating at times.

I am always amused by anyone using the silly phrase "man up". Where did this come from?

I have worked with a few people who use "man up"; they were usually the last to take their own advice when circumstances required a difference of opinions.

Paul Smith. We should have been careful what we wished for 12 years ago.

If selling off all of the company's assets over the last 12 years while leaving us in the shit and at the mercy of the banks is what you call 'bringing stability' then yes he's a financial genius.

You see, any of the previous owners could have done this too. They didn't because it is suicide.

Did you know, John Moores donated Bellefield to Everton Football Club as a gift, and Bill Kenwright sold it. All in the name of stability, of course.

" As he sells players and does not reinvest all of the incoming fees, he also takes the club debt down"

My bet is still what I have stated previously, when this years accounts come out (and they're a bit overdue) our debt will not have come down.

Eric @ 125, it would not surprise me in the least, given his previous.

The club must remain sustainable and eliminate any debt. There is a clear lack of a plan to be shared with fans. One way to try and get openness is to have an AGM.
