Time to get behind the lads

 Comments (23) jump to end

With a week of mourning behind us and more doom and gloom on here than an episode of eastenders, don't you think enough is enough and it's time to get behind the lads tomorrow and do the only thing we can do in the circumstances SUPPORT OUR CLUB!

Don't forget we are born not manufactured

We can't change and won't change whatever the outcome. We have had some fantastic performances this season and there are some great games coming up, the season is not over yet.

Do you really think the players meant to lose last week? Regardless of ability we have some very honest professionals on that pitch who will be embarrassed knowing they are better than that, they will be doing their bit tomorrow to put it right.

As for the manager I agree with the majority his time is nearly up, but give the guy some credit and respect for raising our expectations.

As for Kenwright, his crime is he's a millionaire not a billionaire, he is just as much an Evertonian as us and he will be hurting. Wherever he takes us and to what the future holds who knows, but he doesn't deserve the bile that is thrown at him from some quarters on here.

I for one will be right behind the lads tomorrow I don't know any different, we have a brilliant record against City, I can't see why we can't get something from them tomorrow and even if we don't then I will always proud to be a Blue, whoever is wearing the shirt or running the club !

Come on, lads make them have it.

You'll prob get slaughtered for this, but well said anyway. It's been a week of burying the head in the sand but eventually you just have to bite the bullet and get back out there. The longer the dark days the sweeter the eventual glory.

Good article Kevin. Born not manufactured sums it up. We have to get behind the players. I would hate the achievements of Moyes to be forgotten in the face of recent events. Yes he has his faults, yes he probably will have gone on for two years too long by the end of the year, but he has earned the right for us to get behind him for the remainder of the year, our captain is probably the same. Kenwright issue is questionable, I just wish he would show more leadership in the bad times rather than simply baskink in the good times.

Agree about backing the team tomorrow but "As for Kenwright, his crime is he's a millionaire not a billionaire, he is just as much an Evertonian as us and he will be hurting" you are surely taking the piss with that one.

There's an argument that unswerving loyalty from fans has contributed to the arrogance of those in charge at Goodison.

From turning a blind eye to Kenwright's litany of shifty antics to indulging Moyes comments of he'd do it all again after the anfield debacle these buggers have taken the piss once too often.

The echo has been summoned to try and play the sympathy card while Moyes has said more in 24 hrs regarding Everton ambition than he has in 11 years yet they still don't get it - actions speak louder than words.

Moyes giving a decision on his contract and restoring AGMs would be a start.

They behave like tinpot dictators strutting around confident of full control of the oiks and of course if we were in a relegation fight loyalty would be unswerving but the club has gone to this well once too often it's time they started earning it.

The best way to support this club is to do something that brings change - if that means not going the match or going and venting your spleen - so be it.

Whatever, this is exactly what gets me about some of our fans. You say anything bad about Moyes and Kenwright and your hurting the club, when are you going to realize that the reason why people have been kicking up a fuss is because they love the club and don't like what's happening. It's normally those who don't say anything that don't give a damn!

Kevin - Kenright and the other owners have all the bile can be coughed up and spit, coming at them. And then more.

This bunch own a cash cow. A cash cow. As long as they give the next manager, like Moyes, enough funding to stay out of relegation, they'll just keep raking in the sheckles. Plain and simple. What we supporters think or want is irrelevant.

With the massive TV windfall about to kick in next season, Green and them could care less if EFC wins any damn thing. Just stay in the EPL, nothing more. That lets them pay the bills and pocket the rest.

Add to this, the vultures circling to sign Fella and Baines? You, me and all the other millions of supporters are fucked.

But, today, COYB. Fuck ManCity.

You mention:

"As for Kenwright, his crime is he's a millionaire not a billionaire, he is just as much an Evertonian as us and he will be hurting"

A millionaire who has technically not put any money into the club he apparently loves. A man who pays a fortune and earns a fortune through stage productions but has not paid a penny into Everton Football Club. Yet, he expects a 4.5 increase in his shares when he sells. If he really is an Evertonian he should be ashamed of himself

Its Boys Pen Billy and uninspiring dull as dishwater Tactically Inept . safety first, all track back Davey who are not supporting the club. Not the poor supporters who have to watch the dross that is served up for them then have to listen to the pathetic excuses that get trotted out with such lack of passion.
As someone so rightly said football is part of the 'Entertainment Industry' while Dour Davey most certainly isn't.

Maybe its about time the Club/Manager/Players did something to make us " get behind the lads" - the "lads" are professionals - - we pay our hard earned money to watch " the lads".

George Mckane, how right, there was another incident last week aside from that shithouse Fellaini, it was five minutes into the second half and Mirralas screamed at the Park End with his best Tommy Grav impression, I could not believe it really, we had been up for it from the first minute, we even sang when the first and second goal went in and we had this fancy dan screaming for us to get behind them, this is the type of bollocks I am sick of I will be there cheering when the game kicks off but I will be cheering for the club Everton FC.

Is this Phil Neville's pen name? Comes across remarkably like one of his 'rallying calls'...

I can think of a few more "crimes" myself tbh.

Footballers ,or "the lads", get away with murder. They are allowed to be useless for months on end and will still be defended as simply being "off form" or "going through a bad patch".

Why should they ever be "off form"? They are professionals and presumably amongst the elite in their chosen careers. The salaries they demand, and receive, should be an indication of their expertise, yet very few of them display such expertise with any regularity.

Football is an extraordinarily simple game. An outfield player in possession of the ball can do one of only three things: pass, shoot or dribble (perhaps a fourth option, dive, should be included). Some players can do none of these things well, yet still "earn" millions of pounds. How can this be?

Football is played by millions and watched by billions around the world. The most run-of-the-mill players are worshipped and treated like royalty, their every word reported to their slavering fans.

Why should they be "got behind" simply because they play football? They should surely earn the right in each and every game to enjoy the support of the spectators? It is not an automatic right.

If you went to the doctor and he diagnosed you incorrectly would you think "Oh, never mind, he's going through a bad spell?" No you wouldn't, yet something as relatively trivial as football is treated as a special case, where the most shockingly inept performances are written off as "a bad day at the office" etc.

I fully accept that anybody can make a genuine mistake at any time, but for a whole team to play so badly, when that same team has shown itself capable of so much more, both individually and collectively, is reprehensible and should not be excused or tolerated.

No matter how you look at it, the season finished last week, what motivation is there for the supporters to get behind the team? as we all know we're likely to finish yet again around 7th or 8th. the damage has already been done.

The only reason I would like to be behind some of the players today is so I could give them a fucking good kick up the arse.
