The same or different?

 Comments (13) jump to end

Much has already been written and many are very firm in their views of who should and should not be considered for our new manager... The operative word is NEW.

If we want the team to play the same way, and can add one or two players to the squad, we should consider those that are at the club: Stubbs, Neville, Sheedy, Ferguson. But, bearing in mind that person will not have the same qualities of man-management, tactics or approach that Moyes had, they should will at least continue working in the same way.

Some will consider that a good thing: building on firm foundation with a different management style. The other side of the coin would be to bring in a manager with his own thoughts and ideas and revolutionise the club. An example of that would be Lambert at Aston Villa. This approach would be a risk but might bring rewards in the longer term. If this were the desired approach I would consider Hiddink, De Boer, Rijkaard, Bilic, Pereira, Favre, etc.

What I don't think Kenwright should do is be influenced by the media or bookmakers. IMO, we need to think and act like a top 4 club and look to improve on the Moyes years.

After 11 years of nearly if all you aspire to is more of the same then you may as well give up, familiarity breeds complacency, is almost really all you want to aspire to?

I think Lambert's situation at Villa was forced on him rather than it being a revolution.

Jay the post below yours in the mailbag is the NO, NO, NO, list I think Bill will have his own NO NO NO list and most of his will be from your could move us on and improve us post Moyes.

The Man who supposedly runs The Club that couldn't lag the bog pipes, is to oversee the biggest decision since 1892.

Moyes will name his successor as I imagine bill is paralysed by fear. I can see Moyes being the first manager to run two clubs aat the same time. One directly and one by proxy.
He should've left last week never mind sticking his nose in about our next manager. Be a man bk and tell him to piss off.

No to promotion from within.
No to a British Manager.
Yes to Lucien Favre, Vitor Pereira or Jorge Jesus.
Bill Kenwright please don't let us down.
Ignore Moyes please ignore Moyes.
We want adventure, we want excitement, we do not want dour defensive, one dimensional football.
This is a great chance to take the next step!

Jay, I wish I had read your post half an hour earlier - I wouldn't have posted my "think big" mail. You have put things much more eloquently than I have. We are at the crossroads of the clubs history - we have to go for broke.

I really don't care where our new manager comes from. All I want is a manager that can continue what Moyes has begun whilst adding a bit of steel up front and a bit more decisiveness going forward.

I certainly don't envy Bill Kenwright this huge and controversial decision . But if Martinez, is up for it, I think B K , should make him the next Everton Manager. He's served his premiership apprenticeship. Is an expert at bringing in good affordable foreign talent and his teams play the Everton way. I know Wigan, were relegated but it was close. A couple of decisions and it could have gone their way. The likes of big Dunc, Phil Neville, Stubbsy and Davie Weir, are an interesting consideration. But surely we need someone with the relevant experience at the helm. Martinez, has this in abundance and he's still young enough to build a great Everton team.

It is a chance to do something different and try a new direction (flair) so I suggest we go for a continental coach with a winning pedigree.

The likes of Pereira, Hiddink, Laudrup, Montanier etc will suffice
