Chelsea kick off their 2014-15 campaign with a comfortable win over Burnley that was notable for Diego Costa's first goal and a fine assist by Cesc Fabregas.

Fabregas looks like he plays a totally different game to our players. His touch is just so good and his passing and vision are light years ahead of ours.

I always think we show too much respect to these newly promoted teams. We should've done what Chelsea are doing, ie, "We are the big boys and we are going to batter yous". We have to develop a ruthless streak otherwise we will always be the 'nearly boys'.

Hate to say it but the Chelski look great and Fabregas is very polished!
As Patrick says though there will be chances against them for us.

Good response to going a goal behind. Quick equalizer then go for the throat and kill the game!! What we should have done second half on Saturday.

Notice the Burnley No 6 – is he related to Slippery Steve?

Matic is equally impressive to Fabregas. So powerful and strong but also very good on the ball. Barry and McCarthy will have their work cut out against those two... best central midfield in the Prem to my eye.

Chelsea look good but Burnley are shite. Chelsea know how to kill a game and we donÂt. We just donÂt have that mentality in our approach. ItÂs like we donÂt want to embarrass anyone but end up embarrassing ourselves just like Saturday.

As much as I love our man McCarthy, that Matic is unreal as CDM. He closes everything down and is always looking to go forward. He is their MVP for me.
Cesc's pass was the best pass I've seen in the last two years. 99 out 100 players shoot instead of making that pass. It takes a special player to make those kind of passes.
It just goes to show why Wegner will never be more than second best. I don't care how well off he thinks he is in midfield, you don't let a talent like that go to a direct rival. You either find a way to fit him in or buy him and dictate where he goes or sell someone else like Ozil.
I think Cech is great but the move to Courtois is the right move; him and Nuer are the two best in the world right now and at his age for a long time. His hands are better than Cech his size and his athleticism.
As everyone has already stated, if only we had that killer instinct.

Is Chelsea this good or Burnley just this bad? I'm going for the latter.

It was a bit of both actually. Burnley took the lead but weren't allowed to settle at all after as Chelsea stepped it up. Not sure if they were shell-shocked or just very limited in their play Burnley didn't look comfortable passing the ball around and resorted to playing percentage balls down the flanks and to Jutkiewicz in the centre. The few times they advanced and threatened were from winning free kicks as Terry & Co. tried overzealously to win the ball. As others have mentioned Chelsea were really impressive: very compact but attacking with great dynamism. The trio of Costa, Schurrle and Hazard, with Fabregas making the plays, will take some stopping. No wonder they swallowed their pride in buying Matic back for 20 mil - he's quite the colossus, nothing gets past him!
