I've been thinking about writing something about my beloved Blues for some time now. And thinking back I've seen some great and not so great time. Now I'm of a age where I can only go back to the mid seventies in my memory of going the game, so before that I've relied on tales of older folks some no longer with us. So heres my attempt to sum up our Everton in a short poem.
Spoken or sung to the tune of:
And Dixie's feet, in ancient times,
Danced upon Goodison's grass so green,
And was the Holy Trinity on Everton's perfect pastures seen,
And did the Catterick decide to build a team to win the league,
And was the cup brought home in the greatest comeback ever seen.
Bring me a Vision of burning Gold,
Bring me a Reid with Blue heart a fire,
Bring me a Sharp oh brave and bold,
Bring me a Diamond to get us out the mire.
And Dunc won't cease from mortal fight,
Nor shall Bob's steel turn into sand,
Until they have brought the trophies back,
To Everton's White and Royal Blue Land

We're now Southwest London based so sadly Mum (who became a Chelski fan when it became fashionably Vialli to do so) has hijacked his allegiances while I'm out in the desert! Hoping to turn him around. Any more tips? Your poem is a great start!
