By Paul Andrews 03/11/2014
Leon Osman
performed his own rendition of Will Smith's 'Boom! Shake the Room' at his testimonial dinner on Saturday night and it proved to be a big hit with the guests in attendance:

A very popular member of the squad. A player that divides opinion, in my opinion he has been a great servant to our club.
On the slippery slope now but still has the same courage to show for passes when others hide.
If you are prepared to take the ball in tight areas more than others, it stands to reason you will be caught in possession more than others.

Why all the sniping at Osman? He doesn't pick the team, he has been loyal to Everton, never let the club down by getting arrested or found pissed up in town, thrown his teddies out the pram on the pitch etc so why not let him enjoy his testimonial.

IÂve never been a big fan of Ossie; however, I bow to the superior knowledge of all the different managers who have selected him over the years.
Every team needs an Ossie-type player; Martinez needs to find a younger version of Ossie, and then itÂs happy days.

I heard he did Elvis Costello's "I can't stand up for falling down".

Could someone explain to me what a testimonial actually is? When I first heard Ossie was doing one I thought it was like marking a silver or diamond year, 100 games or 10 years of service but then I found he's been at EFC for 14 years so I crossed that off the list. Now I see him dancing and singing on stage and I'm even more baffled.

These days, Michael, it is a way that players can raise money for charity, I think Ossie chose The Make A Wish Foundation and Claire House.

Give me an Osman before any egotistical, preening foreign mercenary gobshite any day of the week. A real footballer who any kid kicking a ball around Everton Brow can, and should, relate to.
