Guard of honour for Gerrard at the derby
By Sean Patton 05/02/2015
Did Roberto Martinez speak about the horrible rumour I have heard about a guard of honour for
their captain at the derby?
Surely to Christ that is a wind up.
[This was indeed a stupid Twitter wind-up that has been denied by EFC — Thread Closed! — Ed.]

Sean@68.
That had better be a fucking wind up, more of a guard of dishonour for the diving, cheating, dirty bastard.
If that happens I hope the crowd give him hell. Martinez just does not get it if he is in favour of this.

"did Martinez speak about the horrible rumour I have heard about a guard of honour for their captain"
I'm in Dublin so will be in the boozer for this but if our lads do that before this game; I'll walk out. That would be a fucking disgrace.
Send him off with whatever after we've spanked them.

Even better.
I hope every Evertonian turns their back on the guard of dishonour to show the horrible TWAT just what we think of him.

Been reading disturbing rumours on twitter that the slippy crease headed twat is going to get a guard of honor from the teams before kick off, please don't let that be true, I'll be fucking livid if that happens.

This can not be true.....but it would not fucking surprise me

Sky also billing it as Gerrard's last ever derby. No mention of us.

Maybe we should all wear Liverpool shirts on Saturday for this special occasion.
Won't be the same with Stevie G gone, I will miss him so much, getting all emotional just thinking about it.

Probably started by Carra. He’s been trying to wind us up for the last couple of weeks so if this happens it will be like Hibbo scoring a goal.

Sometimes I wonder what happened to our self respect. This is a very important game and for ninety minutes we're enemies. No wonder they always fucking murder us.

Now he is one cheating, diving , dirty little prick who should be slated by all our fans. He is the epitomy of what the scummy shower of shit are.

Maybe Jags will present him with a plaque and a bouquet of red roses and take a selfie to boot.

He is the only referee I've ever seen who doesn't use a whistle.

If this does happen the Police will be proved right over their fears about a late kick off, Goodison will go absolutely mental! On the plus side the crowd will frighten the shite out of most of the RS team.

Surely an early April 1st ? In my time the Dark Side have had a few long serving players I have admired, indeed almost liked. I'm thinking Billy Liddell, Roger Hunt, Ian Callaghan and one or two others. I would have been aghast if any of these had had a "guard of honour" before a competitive derby.... before a testimonial maybe.
So such an accolade for this piece of work who makes no secret of his dislike of Everton ? I think not.

Alan, I think Callaghan and Hunt were the only two rs players who ever got a touch of respect and admiration from us but they were old school pros who earned it.
Gobshites like Gerrard, fowler, Carra, Case, McDermott etc.....are just a bunch of scumbag, cheating, dirty, low life twats.

He's welcome to stand next to the '87 league trophy and charity shield again in an NEC kit. That's the only guard of honour on offer.

Is this just speculation or has it been actually reported somewhere reputable?

How about a little compromise. We are a reasonable club. So, maybe if we smash them in the game we can give him "guard of honour" OFF the pitch. Good riddance and don't slip on the way out.

Get a line up of DJ's so he and 10 of his mates can elbow them in the face when they arent looking?

Whipping ourselves into a frenzy of indignation over something that there is no evidence is going to happen is a bit pointless.
Mind you, if it does happen, I'll be as frenzied as the next Blue.

He almost cut young Naismith (not this Naismith) in half with a waist high two footed tackle that just about ended that lads career. His star fish dives for phoney pens, getting his mate Clattenbastard to send off Hibbo and now our very own impresario want to give him a guard of honour.
Have him run a gauntlet would be more fitting.
I would like to see that.

Gerrard can have all the money in the world but he has no class. There have been Liverpool players I have respected but this specimen is worthy only of disdain.

It is just something I have heard but a little too frequently for my liking. Apparently Kenwright was all for it being the sentimental old luvvie he is but Martinez was opposed to it, hopefully just a load of rubbish.

Apparently, Lancashire are trying to sign him ... they're short of a good First Slip.

Colin - I like your idea of presenting him with a plaque .... but just curl the tail of the "q" down and to the left a bit.

Dick @ 23
Naysmith's career wasn't ended by Creasehead's assault mate. His ankle imploded about 3 seasons later.
That said, now McCarthy's fit, I'd be happy to see Backheel Besic finish Gerrard's career with a testicle/spine shattering horror tackle in front of the Street End!

Well Jags ruined his last Anfield Derby, I hope we ruin his last one ever, oh and I hope Besic ruins both of Gerrard's legs as well.

We are going to let him score too for fucks sake.
If I was a player, I would refuse and just stand on the centre circle.

If this is true, Everton have definitely gone soft... The timing for unveiling the plaque right before we play them is also wrong in my opinion. If we're going to do something along those lines, it should be done discreetly...
This game is becoming more and more about Liverpool...
I just want us to get stuck in and beat the shite, not start showing them respect before the game even starts.

There are rumours that he might not even start after the Bolton game. I imagine sky won’t allow that to happen.

Everton have confirmed they will NOT be giving Steven Gerrard a guard of honour at tomorrow's game.
Consequently, we're closing this thread.
