FA Cup 5th Round
No football for Everton at this stage of the FA Cup... a painful reminder of our failure to progress yet again in a domestic cup competition. But plenty of action elsewhere this weekend for our fans of football to appreciate... with West Brom dumping our vanquishers West Ham by 4-0.

I see our last big money striker the Yak has scored for Reading. Excellent news for me – I took 150/1 for Reading when I placed my customary two quid on a complete outsider to win the FA Cup.
Feed the Yak and he will score!!!!

I enjoyed Blackburn taking it to Stoke today but after reading your post Darren I will make Reading my team to root for with us out of it.

Good luck to the Yak, just seen his goal today, typical Yakubu goal!
I did love the Yak, came across as lazy but was quite simply a natural finisher who seemed to caress the ball into the net almost leisurely.

Let’s hope Fraizer Campbell has just scored the winner for Palace, Darren.

Let it be Rob. It would be a great relief if those nightmares we all keep envisaging were extinguished tonight

"I try to go with a system which suits the players", says Pulis, "But it takes a long time."
That’s more sense in one sentence than Martinez has come up with in 18 months.

Harold M, minds me of the great Alf Ramsay who’s wingless wonders won the World Cup in 66.
Alf came under severe criticism from the pundits of those days when he ignored 100 years of tradition by not using wingers. His chosen tactics did not suit wingers so he selected players who did suit.
Compare that with Martinez who used players in a system that is completely foreign to them. I dearly hope he has seen the error of his ways before it is too late.

Yes Dick, It will always be a struggle for Jags but, with the help of young Stones, he appears to be coping better of late. Wish I could say the same about our three most talented players, Coleman, Baines and Barkley, who are all being stifled by an unsuitable system which forbids them from taking risks. The weekly sight of Seamus refusing to cross the ball is making me ill.

West Brom and Blackburn each scored 4 goals. Can someone please remind me when we last scored that many. I wonder if we can ever do it in future.

Anything can happen in the cup. Both losing teams had a few key men missing and both had to play with 10 men.
Having said that, you are right, Dick, it’s been a while since the Blues demolished any team except maybe Wolfsburg and even that game was wide open for a while.

Dick.
We beat the mighty Fulham and Stoke 4-1 and 4-0 respectively 2012-13 if memory serves me right.

Wolfsburg, the team flying high in the Bundesliga were beaten 4-1 at Goodison in yet another game Everton stopped playing in, when they got to three.
Football is about confidence and because Martinez stood in the way of us gaining any momentum, we have got none.
DonÂt know if itÂs to late to get it back, but it does show we have got a decent team if everything is allowed to click!

This could be a painful end to the season. They are so jammy. A home draw and then the two favourites drawn together. The devil truly looks after his own.

Just when I thought the season couldnÂt get any worse, the draw is now opening up for the red shite to win the cup. Cushy home tie and then probably get reading or Bradford like they got Wycombe Wanderes in the semi years back.

Or.......he slips over and the winner ends up in the red net. It happened last year and no one could have written that script.

Suppose it might be good Man Utd v Arsenal. At least they canÂt both go out in the next round. Winners of that draw the shite in the semi and knock them out. Then we knock them out in the EL semi. Slippy and the red shite scum will be beside themselves claiming everyone and everything is against them, losing three semis in one season.

That sounds good Albert. Although my sanity and all round view of life would be in a far better place if they didnÂt get that far in the first place.

Of there are any gods then they are definitely conspiring against us. What a jammy draw. The dark forces are having a field day. Lets just hope the slippy one falls on his ugly mush while deflecting the ball into his own net. WonÂt hold me breath though. Poxy turds.

IÂm calling this as a one off. ItÂs totally acceptable for an Evertonian to put money on Liverpool to win the FA cup.
ItÂs deffo going to happen, and it will take the edge off.

Do we consider the Leicester match a relegation 6 pointer? If we lose that game - and itÂs eminently possible - Leicester have been playing some not bad footy - will RobertoÂs backers be as vociferous in his support?

On another tack - caught the end of the RS game at my mates yesterday as heÂs RS. After the game, was Brenda standing in a fuckin huge hole - he was 4 foot shorter than the rest of the blokes - including Michael Owen!!!!

Moyes was actually at this game !
United had no shot on goal the whole first half except one free kick just wide. Di Maria is awful and only for Preston running out of gas they may have gotten at least a replay.
Arsenal will take care of business in the final unless they really need to concentrate on Champions league placement first.

There is a piece on GOT about Bern. Think its written by a local who says itÂs best to buy your ale from a supermarket as bars are mega expensive, and just drink from a can / bottle in the streets. Nothing new there then!
Not seen that Paul. Any links?

IF the RS get to the Cup Final, I would not be surprised if one of their fans Mark Clattenburg was the man in the middle. He has not had a final yet, so what odds he gets this years?
