Premier League Football this weekend
Six games in the Premier League today, with Crystal Palace thumping QPR 3-1, despite Phillips coming up with a contender for Goal fo the Season, a sweetly struck rocket from just ahead of the centre-circle!
More to follow, with Hull and Sunderland looking for points that could lift them above Everton before tomorrow's massive game against Newcastle...

At least Crystal Palace are helping us — drubbing QPR 3-0 in the first half...

Aston Villa ripping Sunderland apart. Who says a new manager can't turn a team around?

Villa into a 4-0 first-half lead at Sunderland! A draw might have been the preferred result but this at least would stop Sunderland going above us!!!
Win and Villa will be level with us on points but well behind on goal difference.

Villa 4 up at half time. This could well send Sunderland spiralling into the abyss

Sunderland getting battered by Villa. Home fans went mental and tried to attack Poyet. Take note Roberto. Your stubborn refusal to CONSISTENTLY play to our team's strengths has passions amongst our fan base running high. The angst you heard in the first 30 minutes of Thursday's game was the tip of an iceberg sitting deep in a sea of disgruntlement.

I think this is the best result for us, Michael. Villa under Sherwood are on a roll but we need a couple of sides to start to lose touch below us and this hammering and the QPR result are very helpful. Of course, let's hope we do our own work tomorrow.

Villa thumping a very poor Sunderland side. QPR beaten. Burnley will lose to Man City. Hull and Leicester will draw. None of these teams will finish above us.

Phew, that's good to know, Rob. I was getting worried there for a minute...

We need to concentrate on ourselves but if the bottom three lose today and we win tomorrow we can all breathe a bit easier.

What a difference Tim Sherwood has made, I wouldn't be surprised if Villa finished the season above us, West Brom and Palace will. (Kenwright take note about bringing in a new manager!)

Let's hope Villa beat Blackburn in a few weeks.

Have to say, I think most results have gone our way today. Assuming City can win at Burnley later on, and we can win tomorrow, that will put us nine points clear of bottom three, which is three games Burnley and QPR would need to win and us lose. Four games counting our superior goal difference.

I think we could probably go the rest of the season without winning and still stay up - and that’s probably a good thing. What a shocking season this has been!

Oh, is Sherwood flavour of the week? Anyone who can string two successive wins together seems to be Everton management material right now.

We're heading to full on panic mode.
As it stands we have to win, just to maintain our previously shit 6 point gap from RELEGATION.

Shocking to find us now 5 points behind West Bromwich and palace. What a disastrous season. And Burnley close to pulling off a shock win against the champions. Less than 10 left and 1-0 up.

Just what we didn’t want a tightening up at the bottom, them home games against Sunderland and Burnley and away at QPR and Villa are taking on ever more importance. City will fall out of the top 4 if they carry on like they are.

Tomorrow's game is a ball buster then. Hope Roberto has got big steel balls he's going to need them.

Any other season I'd be cheering all these underdogs on but it's all getting far too tight now. If we don't win or draw tomorrow it's all becoming a terrible reality in the league. As we have all said before, the other teams around us, excepting qpr, Sunderland and maybe Leicester all look like they know how to fight when we now really are taking a knife to a gunfight.

That Burnley result puts even more pressure on us to get 3 points tomorrow. Looking at Burnleys run its its inconceivable to think that they could finish on 37 or 38 points.

Too good to go down?
As City have just proved, you can have all the talent in the world but you still need the balls for the fight.
Over to EFC.

Major squeaky bum time. Thought these days had gone myself, checking where that dreaded line was, how much negative goal difference we had and seeing where we might pick up a home draw. Grim. Thanks Roberto.

James (#37), like you, I thought we had left all that sort of scrutiny behind 13 years ago today when we hired David Moyes. This seems to be the most tortuous season I can ever remember, false dawns, unable to score, too open at the back etc etc. In those darker days, we were as fans prepared for it, but this black cloud of a season has been such a shock and providing we are the right side of that line – I canÂt wait for it to finish.

If we lose tomorrow, then go out on Thursday, could BK panic and get rid of RM?
I don't believe he will, and I don't think we'll lose tomorrow or on Thursday, but now Burnley are only 3 behind, could he act?
