Aston Villa for sale
By Chris Regan
07/05/2015
I have just read
on the BBC that Aston Villa have a potential suitor interested in buying the club. Randy Lerner's 365, 24/7 search for a new investor has paid off.
After Newcastle are sold its our turn.

WhatÂs this news about the Villa takeover? Surely it canÂt be correct?
A club outside the top 4 and not in London or Manchester?

I wonder how they escaped the attentions of 24/7 Boys-pen Bill. Un-fcking-believable!

If Learner is currently negotiating the sale of Villa for around 𧵎 million, it would seem the best salesman for Everton has missed his target again!!!

As Tony Adams could well rival John Barnes when it comes to managerial pedigree ...... bullet dodged.

It reports that itÂs a 𧵎m takeover bid led by former Chelsea business director Paul Smith is behind the bid.
It is also reporting that ex-Arsenal player Tony Adams would be brought in to work on football matters should the takeover be successful.

Everton are not and probably never have been for sale, if we were to be put up for sale then I would expect a similar level of interest to be shown in us as any other major club who were put up for sale.
Bill and his mates wonÂt sell until they have achieved a cheap re-location of the club and even then they might decide to hang on to the club. If the club isnÂt costing them any money to run and doesnÂt impinge too much on their Âday jobs why would they want to sell it? It will only be if the club needs bailing out of a financial meltdown that they will be forced to sell and not before.

Mike #4, it doesnÂt say anything about Adams becoming manager, quite the opposite in fact.

"Randy Lerner is considering this amongst other numerous bids."
Tells you all you need to know. Not everyone who wants to purchase a football club would be a suitable owner for Everton FC but someone who had a plan going forward would be a great start.

Eric 7 You are missing the point - sod Adams, itÂs the 𧵎M that is important + the fact that there is interest in a lower table team.
Ou est Everton?? Outer Mongolia??

The key point is that Lerner appointed Bank of America to find a buyer and they have. Who has Bill appointed?

If it was my money Villa would be a better buy due to their superior infrastructure.
First you have to Buy the blues and then spend shit loads more. Which is why I havenÂt put an offer in yet.

Whatever happened to ÂKeith Harris finding us a buyer?! IÂm sure someone told me he died the other week.

Gavin - Bill wouldnÂt pay the fee to hire Harris so he decided to pay Orville instead. After their first meeting Bill said that he wanted to find someone to buy and pay way up to the sky - Orville replied "You CanÂt"

Ray # 12 - Here is a statement regarding our sale from almost 4 years ago: "I have no idea why they canÂt sell it"Â Kenwright is reported to have said. "Keith Harris is involved on a daily basis. I have been to Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Citibank.
"No-one can sell the club better than me. ThereÂs a guy at the moment in Italy, another in Abu Dhabi. There is not enough money in the world. When was the last major sale of a football club?"

If this little report doesnÂt give an inkling as to how Everton FC are performing in comparison to our neighbours, I donÂt know what will.
Playing Catch-Up
IÂm not saying we should or even could strive to match them, but at the same token we really shouldnÂt have let them climb so far ahead either.
Funny that the same paper decided to quickly brush over our commercial deals and lack of success – but we always knew that they favoured the people over the park – didnÂt we?

Simple, a great modern ground with character, good infrastructure, a short distance from both the city centre and motorway. Nothing extra in terms of spending money required apart from one or two players. Plus they have no problem beating some teams we can mention. Now take a walk round Goodison and think about the perceptions of a prospective buyer!

Ron #20, but they are relegation fodder without a buyer, and have been for a few seasons now.

Ron (#20), youÂre wasting your time. They will always look at BK as the only problem and avoid the main reason. Villa shares are up for sale and this consortium is trying to get people to buy in to it. This type of buyer is useless for Everton. We need somebody to invest in the infrastructure of the club as well as the purchase price – thatÂs why we can't find anyone as the cost is around 𧷤/400 million if you include the playing side.
VillaÂs setup is fine with loads of corporate facilities already in place, itÂs a clean purchase. If BK sells to somebody who doesnÂt have that wealth to invest, we are in the same position just with a different chairman; we are no further forward.
Qatar is the best place to look at the moment and we already have people over there offering the club; letÂs hope somebody takes the bait. Ron, we had the same people of TW complaining when Blackburn was recently sold; most takeovers fail, so we need to be cautious.

Kevin (17) – cheers mate. That is a gem of a quote.

Alan, the reason why we havenÂt got any corporate facilities or a new ground is because Bill has failed at every project he's attempted to deliver. He couldnÂt even get the Everton Place project up and running because he and his team didnÂt even know the tenure setup of our own Park End. What chance has he got of delivering anything tangible for us moving forward?

Villa for sale at 𧵎M means Everton would be valued at half that amount. Villa have a lovely modern stadium with well developed business facilities. ItÂs only the football they struggle with!

Why do people always say youÂll need ١-400m to fix our infrastructure problems? Aston Villa havenÂt spent that much on redevelpment of Villa Park. Far from it in fact. Furthermore they self financed it from a lower turnover than ours..... why havenÂt we managed the same, instead of pie in the sky schemes that are supposed to be freebies but are far from it? Answers on a postcard...
