An Evertonian Prime Minister?
By Mark Schofield 20/05/2015
Is Andy Burnham a Blue? I'm pretty sure I saw him in the Gwladys Street one game this season. If we get a Blue Prime Minister, surely he could pull a few strings behind the scenes and would help us get the right people in to run the club, ha!
Seriously, though it would be nice to have a Blue Prime Minister in 5 years time and he seems far more down to earth than Cameron or Miliband. Who would be the next most highest profile Blue behind the top man in the Labour Party?

Yes, Mark, Burnham is a Blue.
Mark Carney, the Canadian bloke who heads the Bank of England, said he was an Evertonian when appointed.
ItÂs nice to see Blues get to the top... but I doubt either could or would help us. Although isnÂt Cameron a West Ham fan? Hmmm.... was he instrumental in getting them the Olympic gaff???

MK - Cameron is most definitely a Villa fan, that was a gaffe when he read out West Ham from his autocue. As for Andy Burnham, a true blue who very often visits Goodison. He might become PM if BK can arrange a ballot similar to the one used for the Destination Kirkby vote.

Voted Conservative myself. However, if Andy Burnham is the next Labour Leader could we look at the Commonwealth games here in Liverpool with a nice new stadium to be given free to a needy club.
May get my vote. (Shallow or what!!!).

Ah, thanks Patrick... I had a nagging feeling when I wrote that.
The other point is Mark is doing some chicken-counting here – I thought IÂd missed something and just looked up the leadership election process.... a decision by 15 September!!!
That makes it – what? Two or three times longer than the General Election campaign... Ridikalus!!!

Wasnt Camerons great uncle or some other relative on the Villa Board? Thats probably the link that had him originally say he supported them. I suspect hes not really too interested in the game, tbh.

Andy Burnham is a definite blue - and a real one. In a previous shadow cabinet role he was a main player in forcing the re- opening of the Hillsborough can of worms on behalf of the affected families - leading to the long overdue admissions and apologies by the authorities and Govt. A true blue and a nice bloke by all accounts.

Politicians should leave football well alone – theyÂre doing badly enough screwing up the country, let alone football.
David Cameron my arse. He doesnÂt even know which team he supports, the lying twat.

Burnham is a mad, mad blue. IÂve met him twice and all we talked about was Everton. HeÂs a really nice fella and I hope he becomes party leader, then PM. IÂm certain heÂd kick a few arses on the LCC to get us a new stadium.

James - you canÂt keep politicians away from any part of society they are supposed to represent the people of the country and if that country is football daft then politicians will pretend to be interested. I see Hazel Blears, the MP who scuppered the Destination Kirkby project, has got a new 㿨k-a-year job with a well known high st company.
Just read that BK is not feeling himself and was unable to attend the Everton awards ceremony in Liverpool tonight, according to Robert Elstone.

They donÂt represent more than half the country, at least not the mob that got in this time. Anyway, we probably shouldnÂt talk politics here, Patrick :-)
I cringe whenever that toffee nosed prick opens his gobshite mouth.

Come the revolution, James, the whole country will be Evertonians and the other lot will be barred from appearing on TV.

James - Burnham did a great job on behalf of the Hillsborough families. As a politician, are you saying he shouldnÂt have got involved? Hillsborough went beyond politics and football, but as a genuine football man he probably understood more than many other politicians, what it meant to those affected by it. He gets my vote.

Jim, there are exceptions to every rule – IÂm just using this thread as a forum to take cheap shots at our glorious leader!

James, we have our very own politician in our dear manager - he could teach Peter Mandelson about spin!

Perhaps a socialist Prime Minister might encourage greater fan ownership of clubs. There are some interesting articles around, particularly by Amy Lawrence on the BBC Sport site, about FC United of Manchester opening their new ground, and the democratic nature of the running of the club. IÂve been to a couple of their matches, and the experience was a lot more enjoyable than most I have had at Goodison this season.

I guess it would be nice if he became Labour leader but I'm afraid the next leader of the Labour Party will only manage gloom and internal fighting, they are currently un-electable. Unless they can sort out Scotland, the Labour party will never ever win a majority again, I'm no Labour fan at all but this isn't good for politics, we always need a strong opposition to hold the government to task, be that blue or red.

I heard him say in a political interview once that the NHS was a National Institution second only to Everton Football Club

He's my local MP, I saw him at the petrol station the day before we played Man Utd at Old Trafford earlier in the season. I think I said "We'll have them tomorrow, Andy".
He replied "Let's hope so!".
History says we lost.

If Andy Burnham had his way, there would be no free school at Everton. When it comes to politics, Andy Burnham does not believe in choices for the less privileged.

A couple of seasons ago he came to the Everton Supporters Club in London AGM. It was around the time of the previous Labour leadership election and I had a go at him for daring to wear a red tie on Question Time the previous Thursday.
I did say that I understood he might be trying to attract a certain element in his party.
That might be a reason, but it isnÂt an excuse.

I'd vote any Prime Minister, no matter what party he comes from, be it Labor, Conservative or anyone of those small independent parties that people have never heard of...

He is a true blue and not one of those politicians who pretend to be fans because it looks good (aka Tony Blair and the Jackie Milburn story). IÂve meet him a couple of times and he is okay and a mate of BK (who is a Labour donor).
IÂve got a vote as a Labour Party member and IÂll be voting for him. If he becomes PM, perhaps we can hope for some decent state funding for a new ground, new manager and new team.

Maybe he could explain the cost of living crisis Everton are enduring.
