Help a brother out: ticket advice for a yank
By Timothy Morris 23/06/2015
Greetings, fellow Blues. I am looking for advice about getting tickets for the match on August 8th. I have been a supporter of Everton for the past five or six years. As an American, Tim Howard brought me to the club and I have felt at home ever since.
I am travelling to Edinburgh in late July to visit one of my best friends. As fate would have it, I will be in the UK on August 8th.
Being able to go to Goodison Park to see Everton would be a bucket list item. Could someone give me some direction on how to acquire tickets, a good “Blue” pub, a reasonable hotel, etc. We would love to make the trip to Liverpool and to see the Blues start the season right. Thank you for any help or suggestions. COYB!!

I donÂt live in the UK and visit Goodison occasionally so I can give you some hints.
First of all, keep in mind that due to television broadcasts the match can move, both in kick-off time on the day and in the day itself, it could move to Sunday or Monday. DonÂt plan your trip too tight timing-wise. Although I donÂt expect this one to be changed as it "just" is a match against Watford.
What I do to get tickets: you can make a profile on http://www.Evertonfc.com/ticket-news and there you can order the tickets as soon as they get available. I do not expect this one to be sold out but bear in mind that last year almost every match was sold out and that Goodison has a lot of obstructed views. So order your ticket in time if you donÂt want to sit behind a pillar. Since itÂs your first trip the Park End or Main Stand seems a safe choice. Hooliganism inside the stadium is virtually non-existent since the mid-nineties so donÂt worry too much about the particular area in the stadium you choose; apart from the obstructed views, you really canÂt pick a wrong spot in Goodison.
Most of the time, I choose to collect the tickets at the box office the day prior to the match, always works like a charm. If you want to be sure, give the ticket office a ring once the tickets are available.
Last time I stayed in a B&B which I really enjoyed. If youÂre interested I can fetch the details when I get home tonight. For the pubs, well, I leave that part for the locals to answer!

Provided you book early enough, you can pick a single ticket up from the club, not sure what the release dates are for the first batch of home games, but the official club site will tell you.
Rest assured this game will certainly be a Âsell-outÂ. WatfordÂs first game back in the Premiership for a while, they will sell out their full allocation of away ticketÂs, so a great atmosphere is guaranteed.
I would stay in one of the many Âbudget type hotelÂs around the Albert Dock on the waterfront, youÂll probably have to pay around 㿭-㿷 a night, as Liverpool is immensely popular with tourists at that time of the year.
Also, the Âdock area is great in the summer, with some cool bars and restaurants around the location.
Allow yourself around an hour to get to the match and pick your ticket up, maybe a little bit more if you want to take in the flavour of match days at Everton.
Hope you enjoy your experience, were a friendly lot as youÂll find out.

Hello Tim, Welcome, lad!
YouÂll need to check it out but I think the season ticket holders first dibs and then the tickets go on sale to the general public; but as Steve says, look on the EFC Official site.
For accommodation, you could also try the Travelodge in Old Haymarket (right in the centre of town. If you book early on line, you can get a double room for 㿖. If your mateÂs coming down, you can both crash down in the room so itÂll be about 㿀 each.
For eating (and some really decent beer.) at good prices thereÂs Wetherspoons by St Johns Market).
If youÂre looking for a decent pub, full of Blues then the "Dark House" is the place. ItÂs proper name is "The Barlow Arms" YouÂd have a great time there and its right by the Ground but youÂd need to get there at least an hour and a half before the match.
If you have any difficulty getting tickets on line, give me a shout, I live about quarter of a mile from the Ground.
God knows what weÂll be like on the day but youÂll have a great time before and after!
