Cahill parts ways with New York Red Bulls

Tim Cahill has ended his contract with New York Red Bulls by mutual consent to pursue a lucrative move to China.

The Everton legend has been with the MLS club for two and a half years but was looking for a new challenge after lifting the Asia Cup with Australia this past weekend.

Speculation inevitably linked him with a return to Goodison Park but he has announced a move to the Far East with Shanghai Shenhua, although not before he had turned out a late approach by old boss David Moyes at Real Sociedad.
