Blues go down in mini-derby at Goodison
Harry Charsley had put the Blues ahead with a close-range finish from Ryan Ledson's 24th-minute cross but Ryan Kent equalised just three minutes later.
Kent restored the reds' lead in the second half and Ojo made sure of the points for Liverpool from the penalty spot.
On-loan striker David Henen had to be withdrawn at half time with an ankle injury and left the stadium in a protective boot but manager David Unsworth said after the match that he hoped the Belgian would be able to play in one or both of the U21s' games against Sunderland and West Ham next week.
Henen has effectively been on a season-long trial with Everton's second string and the club will have to make a decision over whether to buy him on a permanent basis from Olympiacos this summer.
Everton U21s: Griffiths, Jones (Davies 62'), Galloway, Ledson (Connolly 75'), Distin, Browning, Kenny, Williams, Byrne, Charsley, Henen (Dyson 46').
Subs: Hunt, Robinson.

I thought so too but, on thinking about it more, if our youngsters were that good at the minute, theyÂd be pushing for more first team action, so clearly they are not there yet.

I am disappointed that our coaches have not been able to get at least two replacements for Osman and Pienaar as they should be the priority positions required. Either our scouts and/or coaches are not up to standard.
We seem to use ex-defenders as coaches, eg, Stubbs, Unsworth etc, and neither were top class defenders during their careers.

Oh wait, I guess itÂs the "Under-21" bit youÂre flagging? I can see we probably need to post a disclaimer along with ever report on the former Reserves. It would read something like this:
The so-called Under-21s replaced Everton Reserves as the official title and competition name for EvertonÂs second string. The rebranding was to convey the developmental progression up from the old Academy levels, now called Under-19s. In recognition of the sideÂs time-honoured role as a runout opportunity for fringe squad players, recoveries from injury etc, the rules for Under-21 games allow up to three senior players who are over 21 to take part.
Hope this helps!

Galloway will develop into a top class player. He stood out last night.
