Barry deal could be in doubt

The Mirror claims that Gareth Barry's permanent move to Everton is on the brink of collapse — with West Ham poised to take advantage.

Everton and Manchester City are apaprently at odds over the fee structure built into the original loan deal that brought the former England midfielder to Goodison Park last August.

The contract stipulated that the Blues would either pay a much-reduced fee — or no fee at all — to loan the 33 year-old for the 2013-14 season but that the full amount would be due if Everton made the move permanent this summer.

Barry is a free agent and could sign for West Ham but is believed to be settled in the northwest which still makes a move to Everton the most likely option.

Reports that West Ham are offering the best financial package could be a tactic employed by Barry's agent to break the impasse.
