As expected, Brendan Galloway has been forced to pull out of the England Under-21s squad to face the USA and Norway with a knee injury.

The defender was included provisionally by Gareth Southgate while word was awaited on the extent of the tendon injury that the suffered against Manchester City eight days ago but Galloway's absence has now been confirmed.

Everton have yet to officially put a timescale on the 19-year-old's return to action but the early indications from manager Roberto Martinez were that he had damaged a patellar tendon, an injury that would likely require weeks rather days to heal.

Sounds like a nasty injury. No need to rush him.

A shame for him to miss out on potentially a first international cap (albeit at U21 level). However, if he continues as he has been, there will be plenty more chances in the future.
