Blues face Dagenham or Whitehawk in the FA Cup

The draw for the FA Cup Third Round has handed Everton a home tie against the winner of the replay between Dagenham & Redbridge and Whitehawk.

The National League South minnows from Brighton host the League Two Daggers from East London in a Second Round replay next Tuesday to determine who will make the trip to Goodison Park next month.

Third round ties will be played between 8th and 11th January.

Whitehawk manager Steve King: "We're on a fantastic run and don't want it to end. I'd want Liverpool away if I could pick a tie."

Would be a nice pay day for Whitehawk.

We should be professional enough to over come any physicality they try to throw at us.

Sounds like the manager is a RS. I live in Brighton (Whitehawk is the name of an East Brighton estate) and there are loads of them down here.

Usually when I watch the derby in a local pub it's heaving with the reds – but of course the only scousers in the pub are me and a few bluenose mates.

Hoping even more for Whitehawk to win and get their big payday. Either way, D&R are 22nd in League Two so even putting a lower strength side out should see safe passage to Round 4.

Surely we can dispense with two defensive mids for this one. I remember when we played non-league Woking at Goodison and won 1-0 so I'm not saying take the Mickey but give some fringe players – young uns – a chance.

Sorry, mate, but I have to disagree with you. Apart from the fact that whoever we play, their fans will want to see our best team out there, we've seen enough embarrassing results over the years in the cup for other teams. If Martinez seriously wants to pick up some silverware, he has to send his strongest team out in cup games, whoever the opposition might be.

Also, remember what happened when he sent a bunch of kids out against Kiev, in a so-called 'dead rubber?' For me, there's no such thing. Every game is there to be won, and you don't do that by diluting your team because you think the opposition are weak.

Strong team please, Roberto, and go for the jugular!

Players need a rest in January and surely we've enough in reserve to take care of these guys at Goodison without Rom, Ross, Del Boy and Co and keep them in reserve if god forbid it looks like another Shrewsbury.

I used to live in Brighton and I can say with certainty that there were very few Evertonians in Brighton and on the south coast in general. I did meet one or two but very few. Watching derby games in a pub was an ordeal, the place would be packed with RS and not one of them with a scouse accent.

When we won the Cup in 95 I remember celebrating late into the night in a Brighton disco with a bunch of lads who were screaming "Everton!, Everton!" but they were not Evertonians as such, they were just happy because Man Utd lost.

Team is irrelevant really, there is a massive gulf in class between us and either side. What matters is the professionalism shown.

We could get knocked out just because whatever team plays doesn't show sufficient respect for the opposition, eg, they think they can win without raising a sweat.

Dagenham it is. Memo to Martinez..... four out of the five goals scored in tonight's Whitehawk v Dagenham & Redbridge game were from corners or set-pieces.
