Ramiro Funes Mori, rumored future captain of Argentina, led from the back as Argentina convincingly and easily beat Columbia 3-0 in World Cup qualifying.

With the solid defending and goalkeeping en route to ensuring a clean sheet, Messi took over, scoring a goal on 10 minutes with a beautiful free kick and then gaining an assist later in the first half. He also set up the final goal with an assist late in the game.

The win puts the future captain's Argentina side up to 5th in CONMEBOL qualifying group, guaranteeing a play-off spot for a berth at the World Cup Finals. It leaves the team just one spot behind Chile, the beneficiaries of one of the forced Bolivia forfeits, for the 4th guaranteed berth at the World Cup for CONMEBOL.
