U23s lose at Leicester but progress in Premier League Cup
Everton Under-23s had the chance to top Group F if they managed to beat Leicester City this evening but lost 2-1 amid late drama at Holmes Park.
Rising teenage starlet Anthony Gordon looked to have created the winner for Alex Denny but two goals at end, the second scored from the penalty spot, gave the Foxes victory.
David Unsworth's side had already qualified for the the knockout stages, sitting 2nd on 10 points after wins over Portsmouth and Barnsley, but lost to the Foxes for the second time in the competition.
Everton U23s: Hewelt, Markelo, Garbutt (62' Sambou), Baningime (62' Gordon), Ouzounidis, Gibson, Evans, Denny, Lavery (62' Bramall), Baxter, Grant.
Subs not Used: Hilton, Astley.

Their 2nd was from a stupid handball by Antony Evans. Otherwise, Everton looked comfortable.

No Funes Mori; so he'll probably start on Saturday as it worked so well for McCarthy and Coleman. No easing players back in for Big Sam.
Can't understand why Vlasic and Klaassen are not starting for the Under-23s; surely some football is beneficial.

Everton don't appear to be screening the game live despite their early season promise to show as many games live as possible. As Leicester aren't charging to watch the game, I don't think they would object to Everton also showing it live.
What is the reason Everton aren't screening it?
