Senior scout to follow Walsh out the door

One of Everton's senior recruitment personnel, Laurence Stewart, is to leave the club as Marcel Brands seeks to overhaul his new department at Finch Farm.

Stewart joined the club from Manchester City shortly after Steve Walsh was appointed as the Blues' first director of football but he is ready to take a position under Paul Mitchell at RB Leipzig according to the Liverpool Echo.

The report also suggests that the future of Martyn Glover, who was installed as Walsh's chief scout in 2016, is unclear at the moment but Brands is expected to make changes at all levels as he assembles his chosen team at his new club.

Brands was appointed as Walsh's successor last week after weeks of speculation that he would leave PSV Eindhoven after eight years to accept a position in the Premier League with Everton.

To be honest, after the transfers in over the past couple of years, our scouting team network is in need of a good refreshment and expansion of knowledge.

It's amazing when you realise just how many hangers on, there are/we're in this case.

At this rate Marcel Brands will earn the nickname Rentokil.

Long overdue, let's hope that the revolution will deliver the Everton we all love and have craved for, for years now!

That won't happen till Kenwright is also gone, Derek mate.

It might be a bit unfair to describe him as a 'hanger-on', Derek. I doubt Leipzig would want him if he didn't have something to offer.

Change does not necessarily mean improvement but I have faith in Brands, I'm excited to see which players he targets.

Jeez, he works fast for a guy that doesn't start work for another week!

Club scouts aren't 'hangers-on' – where does this notion come from? The more, the merrier – like more police informants (from the point of view of the police obviously).

Getting better quality scouts in is a different matter.

James @6, just imagine what it will be like when he gets the job officially.

He will employ the Domestos approach – 99.9% will have no escape, no refuge!

West Ham have already got a new manager even though Moyes left them after we sacked Fat Sam and Arsenal also have a new manager too. But Everton are still bumbling along doing nothing much of anything until its too late as usual.

Oh, and we knew Fat Sam was on his way out long ago so why wasn't the new guy already ready to go???

Q. 'Where is the scouting team?'

A. 'They sleep with the fishes'!

Given RB Leipzig like Lookman, I would suggest that he probably was that scout who found him at Charlton. We don't know which scout has recommended who but would suggest Walcott, Rooney and Sigurdsson didn't take much scouting.

Nicholas @11, the name's Brands, Marcel Brands, licence to cull.

He likes his Boardrooms shaken, not stirred!

People seem to be getting a bit over-excited by anything that even closely resembles news. It's a bit like last year when the transfers came in quickly and look how that turned out.

Derek @ 3. All that will happen is that Walsh's hangers-on will go, to be replaced by Brands's.

You can guarantee that this lot will involve more men on more money. When Sam was at Bolton he bragged of 'a backup team of 28' – at Everton he was more constrained and mainly had to put up with what was left of Koeman's and Walsh's lackies.

I can see the Brands - Silva 'dream team' constructing an empire round themselves. But if they bring success, who will give a damn?
