Everton U18s lose their 100% record in the U18 Premier League after a six-goal thriller at Finch Farm.

Ellis Simms scored to put the U18s 1 up with 20 minutes played.

After a mad end to the half, West Brom took a 2-1 lead into half-time, with the Blues missing a penalty. But captain Kieran Phillips stepped up after half-time to make it 2-2.

West Brom would take the lead again but Ellis Sims was there to equilze on 50 mins. But the Blues could not preserve their 100% record as there were to be no more goals.

Everton U18s: Tyrer, Zuk, Collins, Jonathan Anderson [Y], Astley, Warren (78' Hughes), Carroll, Iversen, Simms, Phillips (78' Adedoyin), Gordon [Y].
Subs not Used: Barrett, Thompson, Joe Anderson.

This is obviously not good enough.

We're relying on Kenwright's luvvies to coach these lot, they've had Hibbert's and Osman's influence down the years and are now looking at bit part conference players like Davies and Kenny to aspire to.

And we can't even keep a 100% record.

We need change and we need it now.

We can't let this slide. We need to invest at least £40 million on someone who can actually take a decent penalty, and don't even get me started on the obvious defensive flaws. Silva needs to take some responsibility for his high pressing game filtering down to this lot. If we had Moyes in charge, then this would have been defensively sound, we could have shut up shop at 1-0 and preserved our 100% record.

We need protests – and lots of them.

At the next Under-18s match, we should all walk out at 30 minutes in protest at the number of years since we reached the final of the Simod Cup.

I for one am appalled at this.

Kevin (@2),

No I didn't see it but nice to see Simms get another two goals and Phillips adding to his goal tally this season.

I can't wait to see this young team in the FA Youth Cup later in the season.

Haha. Totally agree, Kevin. I will organise the plane and the banner.

Jose Baxter scored all the time at that level before too.

Don't get too excited just yet.

Kevin (#1); Now look, if it's good enough for the 1st XI then it's good enough for the U-18s. Oh, hang on, that doesn't apply to missed penalties, does it?

Very true, Victor, but the kid can only do it at the level he's put in!

I am pretty sure there is no danger of Victor getting excited any time soon.

Victor – actually, I don't think Jose Baxter did score all the time – he was a winger. But your point still stands.

I'm monitoring Simms. A very confident young man.
