Lascelles emerges as fresh alternative to Mina
Everton are said to be interested in signing Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle United as they continue to pursue central defensive reinforcements. | Wednesday, 01 August 2018The club have solid interest in Yerry Mina but have reportedly been frustrated in their attempts to sign him, with the Colombian international thought to be holding out for other offers, most notably from Manchester United who were looking at higher priority targets of their own.
In addition to Marcos Rojo and Ben Gibson, Everton are now being linked with Lascelles who is widely regarded as one of the best up-and-coming young defenders in the Premier League.
While the Magpies have been unwilling to spend any significant cash since they were promoted back to the top flight, they are likely to demand a steep price for one of their prized assets, with figures in the region of £35m to £40m mooted in the media.
Any sale of Lascelles is likely to ignite fresh protests against Mike Ashley and the Newcastle board, however, decreasing the likelihood that they would let him leave.
