Moyes a contender for USA team manager?
David Moyes is described as being a leading candidate to become the new head coach of the United States men's national team.
After Bruce Arena was fired last October for failing to qualify for the Russia World Cup, former Chicago Fire coach David Sarachan was put in interim charge. His contract has been extended through the end of the year to give the US Soccer Federation ample time to find the right man for the job.
Moyes, widely praised for stabilizing Everton over 11 seasons as an upper mid-table side that could not break through the so-called glass ceiling, was widely feted as deserving a chance at a 'big club' but flopped badly at Manchester United and has done poorly at Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham in subsequent seasons.
Moyes owns a home in Florida and is said to have a good understanding of the USSF set-up so it's felt he could be the high-profile candidate the Americans need to lead them to Qatar 2022.
