Barcelona eyeing Richarlison

| Friday, 19 April 2019 34comments  |  Jump to last
Richarlison is again being linked with a move away from Everton with Barcelona reportedly interested in acquiring his services.

Marca report that the Brazilian is one of the attacking options the Blaugrana are weighing up and they say that they would consider offering £50m in attempt to prise him from Goodison Park.

Richarlison has scored 13 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for the Blues since his £40m switch from Watford last summer.

£50 million??? Yeah right. 21 year old Brazilian first team forward.
He may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he should definitely be making us a much bigger profit than that if he goes!

Everton want Gomes, Everton are supposedly interested in Malcom who Barcelona want to unload after just a season. I suspect this is just journos putting different rumors and innuendo together and coming up with a nice catch all story. Assuming Everton don't have tens of millions to spend, they could conveniently swap two players for one.

In reality, I highly doubt Barce would be after Richarlison at this point. They still have Messi and Suarez. Yes they are getting older but they also have Dembele waiting in the wings. Then there is Coutinho, and Malcom. Those lads are on hefty wages. I don't see them spending a lot to bring in Richarlison unless they first offload Coutinho and Malcom. I can't imagine many clubs coming in with 100 million to buy Coutinho or a big bid for Malcom. Consequently, I imagine they'll probably keep the status quo right now and IF Rich or anyone else is seen as a long term replacement for Suarez or Messi, they will probably move for him when those two are actually closer to retiring. As of now, they both still look pretty lively.

Marca is a pretty reliable media source, but as one who watches every Barca game I'm a bit skeptical. The club emphasizes silky ball skills above all, and that's not Richarlison's strong point.

I doubt there's much truth in it. But if there was I wouldn't be particularly heartbroken. To be honest I don't think Richarlison's heart is in the club. I don't think we're getting 100% out of him. Even in the Arsenal game he appeared to be holding back. Always seems to be unhappy about something.
If we could use him to get Gomes and Malcom thrown in as well that would suit me.

Hopefully these are rumours, but who knows.

Preseason is going to be interesting.

Money talks and bullshit walks, it remains to be seen which of these categories Barca and Everton fit into.

Is it likely? a generous 10% max. Everton paying over the odds for Gomes (not a penny over 25M please.) AND getting done over for Richarlson...worth a punt.

Derek, I swapped all of my wife's homeopathy treatment, a medium's crystal ball and a pack of tarot cards. The cow said she wanted beans...

I would be very surprised. I don't think he's good enough for Barca.

Talking of beans, has anyone tried Heinz beans in Canada? They are not in a tomatoey sauce it's more dark and onions. Disgusting. How do they live like that? They don't even have beans in a jar... One of the reasons I've moved back to the UK.

A 21 year old already in the Brazil squad. I'd say he's going to get scouted. It's all about how Brands sees this team shaping up and who to build this team around. He wont be going anywhere this summer though.

David @ 13, may I suggest the Club get's hold of a few tins of those Canadian beans, it may help to keep any would be suitors at bay.

Frank @ 4, I tend to agree that Richarlison 'appears' disinterested at times, but it may be the different positions he has been asked to play in. It is his first year with us, so maybe if we get a more settled team next season we will see the best of him.

I think Real and Barca will kick off a busy domino effect across Europe this summer but I don't see Richarlison being on either list.

I just can’t see this being true. I have been underwhelmed by his general play. I know he has popped up with a decent goal return, but games have often passed him by, and he is not the silkiest of players, to put it mildly! He needs to produce more for Everton before he is linked with anyone else, never mind one of the best teams on the planet!

It's about as likely as Silva being the next Barca Manager. Oh no I may have started another rumour.

What dross... £50 million. Double it and take pleasure in telling 'em to do one. We have to start keeping our better players if we want to improve.

Gueye is another matter. We all hope he stays but it's unlikely.

Richalison is a lad who will constantly been linked with moves to the top few team in Europe, best we get used to it.

The more hes linked with Real or Barca the better he must be doing, I for one am pleased.

Many blues seem to find faults with him, I can only find one that bothers me and that's his theatricals, without them I'm very happy.

Richalison is built for the prem, hes athlete, he is someone we need to keep for as many years as possible, if we continue to tie him down to bigger and better deals so as his contract is always long, we will get stupid money for him when he eventually leaves.

Silva needs to shop around for more players like him, we could easily replicate a Porto within England so long as we find ways around the work permits.

Barca are interested in a 50M pound First Team Brazilian and 13 Goals in the PL youngster; shocker.

I really don't understand what people on here want on here. I really believe if Messi played for us we'd get; he's too short and not physical enough etc.

Tiresome.

If Richarlison was playing for Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea etc would 50m even be mentioned ? Fenway would be saying £180m or do one.

Total nonsense story. We paid £40m for him. He's under contract until 2023 and we have no financial pressure to sell. Transfermrkt has him evaluated at £40m currently which is a baseline valuation which doesn't take anything else into account, other than age and how he's rated. For sure in our position it would take a hell of a lot more than the quoted £50m to prise him loose. For foreign clubs, even those with the resources of Barca the EPL, with the financial strength enjoyed by almost all the clubs is the exact worse place to buy players off, unless you are talking fully-developed top-tier players (De Gea etc). Such players as Richarlison are sourced from South America, Holland, France etc.

Pretty laughable stuff.

Heinz should ask Shane Warne to check out the beans.
He 's probably the world expert!

Is the 50k sterling an ambit for Barca to get a good deal from the permanent transfer of Gomes come the summer break? Since we paid 40(+) k for him and he has improved we should get a higher value if he does go. But only press talk at the mo!

Hopefully not true, although I'm not 100% convinced Richarlison will be a world beater, he is important to us. His goals along with Gyfli's have been vital in saving an underwhelming season.

If true and Barca want him, then Malcolm plus Gomes isn't a bad deal. I would also be asking about loaning Carles Alena for a season too - going to be a class act, I'm glad he may get some more minutes between now and the season's end.

I wouldn't worry about it, Paul. Richarlison will be here another couple of seasons at least. He will turn 22 in the summer. He's still a kid. He needs to keep building his career. He can get in the Brazil squad from here. He has a manager he views as a father. Silva has the players behind him fully now. They will be excited about where he will take them, and I cannot see anyone wanting to leave, not even Zouma to go back to Chelsea.

The only departure from the first 11 that I could see could be Gueye, and that would be because the manager allows him to go having been repaid by his performances for the rest of the season. I hope Idrissa stays though.

Steve @28, I hope you are right.

We have to keep the core of the squad to give it a chance of developing. I was critical of Gana's passing and thought that he wouldn't be good enough for PSG, lately though he has been immense. I would like to think Gomes and Zouma are the priority though, I never thought I'd say this but I hope Chelsea's ban is lifted for us to get Zouma.

I would be looking at a left-footed right winger like Frederico Chiesa if I'm being greedy on top of Zouma/Gomes. Rumours are Diego Costa or Olivier Giroud are available again, now I know they don't fit the brands 18- to 25-year-old recruitment policy but a loan deal can't do any harm surely?

I see Mundo Deportivo are saying that Everton have an option to buy Gomes and Barca have put a fee of £17 million. But and its a big but they will sell to the highest bidder, so to get him first we will have to match what any other club offer above £17 million. Then depending who bids for him if it was a Champions league team how do we compete with that.
Tony Everan
31 Posted 25/04/2019 at 16:06:11
Brian, Gomes himself may influence the decision, it is no good for any club to be bidding on a player who would rather be somewhere else.

I am just hoping he is making it clear he wants to move here permanent and continue his good form. Help us get into the top 6 then top 4 and win a cup. It may swing it if he is vocal about joining us. 17m is an Aldi price for a Harrod's player. It would be the deal of the summer.

He is still young enough to move on in a couple of years time if he fancies another challenge.

Latest rumour has Man Utd after him. Why would he want to leave an improving, up and coming team for that load of deadbeats?

Watch his performance in the derby at Goodison, he was devastating and that's why we paid £40M for him. Imagine him in a top side now? He is a phenomenal talent.
