Former Chelsea winger Traore linked

| Friday, 17 May 2019 11comments  |  Jump to last
Everton are reportedly interested in signing Bertrand Traore from Lyon.

Yahoo Sport France are claiming that the Blues have been impressed by the former Chelsea winger's form in League 1 and the Champions League for the French club.

Updates Subsequent reports have suggested that Lyon will demand as much as £40m for Traore while the player himself indicates that he is no hurry to leave:

“I am happy at Lyon who have been good for me," he is quoted as saying. "I have ambition but my ambition goes up not down so I do not pay attention to those who cannot breathe Lyon's air.”

Another bloody winger/wideman! Has anyone asked whoever is doing the scouting if he has or needs glasses to see further than the near touchline?

Alan, I am not exactly enthused by this tentative link, which I hope remains as such. I vaguely remember him being at Chelsea, but not leaving any lasting impression, I'm sure we can, and will do better, we have not done well with Traores' in the past.

Remembering also that we have just entered the silly season, so will be linked with all and sundry, no reflection on Lyndon, as he is only relaying the current links as they are doing the rounds.

We need more goals and Traore has scored 11 I think this season. He’s very quick, a strong dribbler and has a very good left foot. He can potentially play out wide or through the middle. He wouldn’t be in my top 5 picks but I can see the appeal.

I have played this game. Put a lot of club names in one bowl. In another bowl add lots of player names. Pick one from each bowl and viola you have a link. File this under B- for Bollox

Always looked dangerous for Chelsea when he played through the middle - if he's been playing as a winger at Lyon that explains the lack of goals.

Leaving impressions at Chelsea is not a good yardstick a certain Salah was binned by Chelsea. But ANOTHER winger??

I suspect wingers will be on the shopping list this summer due to either one on both from Walcott and Lookman departing.

Not sure this guy is the one though. Is he even an actual winger?

Are they looking for a 'Henri' - a wide player who can changed into a great, goal scoring, centre forward? Risky, but it is one way of finding what could be a bargain.

I've no problem with any additions in any positions as long as they improve the team/ squad.

You need to score to win. The more you create potentially the more goals can be scored.

We don't have a genuine left winger. Siggy is probably on the verge of his peak years. Bernard could create more / maybe even score playing centrally.

Adding pace, power and potentially more goals doesn't sound bad to me. I hope it's through Lookman but I'm happy as long as it's for Everton.

Imo this lad would bring us something we need, pace, skill, flair and goals.

Hes young and still improving, and the fact he flopped at Chelsea isn't a bad thing either, I'm sure a few lads have done well after flopping at Chelsea!
