I'm just watching Leeds... if they play that fast against us, we are on a hiding to nothing.

Spurs, Leicester City, Man Utd, Arsenal, West Ham Utd all drop points. Good for us but just makes it more infuriating that we couldn't beat Newcastle at home!

So frustrating but beat Leeds and we're back in a great place!!

The league remains wide open other than maybe for Citeh. Win our game(s) in hand and we move up to 5th.

As others have said, so frustrating to lose against Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle though. Our away form will need to continue if we are to stay in touch. Sort out the home form and we will be flying.

I think that we lack one key thing and have done for ages and that is a motivator on the pitch. Holgate seems to have that quality but possibly a year or 2 before he really makes it show. Would love us to bring in a really strong character winner to kick arse when it's needed. Don't know who would fit the bill though or even if such a player is out there let alone available.

One word sums up last week for us – disastrous!

What a totally missed chance to really put pressure on teams above us with our games in hand and massively give us a boost of confidence... Shameful.

John, deep down we all knew Everton would piss the bed, and yet again fail to take the opportunity. That's why I get frusted on the live forum, when people state "we will win this" in so many games, including WHU and Leicester. History over the past 30 of years tells me there is a good chance we wont.

Sick of the cant be arsed highly paid shite that season after season underperform. Do they not realise we have to live our lives surrounded by gloating smug kopites.

Me? I'm still trying to square the logic of those who, on the one hand, call our players 'bottlers', then immediately on the other hand say our chances for a top 4 or 6 place has gone, when we still have 19 games to play. Half a season.

Just who are the bottlers again..?

The loss to Newcastle was woeful. Pitiful. And yet, over the two PL games played this week:

United lost to Sheffield United at home (the Blades first away win of the season and only 2nd win in 21 games) and drew away to Arsenal. Same as Everton, one point gained. No advantage lost to them. Everton two games in hand.

Leicester drew with us, lost at home to Leeds. Like United, equality. No advantage lost. Again, two games in hand for us.

WHU, won away to Palace, lost to 'them' at home. Two points gained on us. Two games in hand for us.

Spurs, lost at home to 'them' and away to Brighton. Everton GAIN a point on them and have a game in hand.

City and them were the big gainers this last week. We have a game in hand on city, two in hand on Liverpool.

ALL the above are being offered as teams that have now got the jump on Everton and are now favourites for the European slots.

Only, the majority, like Everton, didn't take advantage of favourable fixtures themselves.

Why are TWers bigging them up and talking us down when our own record over 9 games reads P 9 W 5 D 2 L 2? Even better over the last 11 games if you add the two cup wins.

Throw into the mix that you have to go back 3 months to November 1st for our last away defeat (to Newcastle), since when our away form reads:

P 5 W 4 D 1 L 0

We remain extremely well-placed to challenge for a European place as any of those listed above.

Games won or points on the board are always better than games in hand. Our games in hand are against Man City and Aston Villa. 6 points from those, things will look different.

Good post! We are not out of the top 4 race but could struggle for a top ten place also such is this season. I think its time for another run of 4 wins (before the derby)

This is a crazy season where it seems to favour the away side each week. I know for a fact that there have been more away wins than home wins this season, but I'm sure it was mentioned in commentary during the west ham game, the last time there were more away wins was in season 1987-88. Not saying we're going to win our next few aways, but wouldn't it be great, Leeds, Man Utd and the RS!!
