Newcastle 2-0 up over 10-man West Ham! There may still be hope for Everton.

Missed the sending off, saw the second goal. Bit of a keeper blooper.

Teasing us with the league table now Ajay!

Shame about the missed chances last night, could've still been in the mix with the extra 2 points and the confidence from beating Spurs, but I think we've squandered too many opportunities now.

And still to play West Ham Colin?

Time to get our own back on ginge the minge.
David Pearl
7 Posted 17/04/2021 at 13:43:18
Its not just West Ham though. Shot ourselves in the foot conceding, add to that all the missed Richarlison chances over the last few games. Injuries have played a part but we also have a squad that isn't used properly anf a loan player that hasn't even be given a sniff. If we had Lingard wr probably wouldn't of played him either. This season has deflated me
Colin Glassar
8 Posted 17/04/2021 at 13:46:14
That Saint-Maximin looks decent. We don't have anyone who can run with the ball like that.
Danny O’Neill
9 Posted 17/04/2021 at 13:54:21
I'll be interested to see how Lingard gets on next season. He undoubtedly is bang on form and the loan seems to have given him a lease of life. Does he seize the opportunity to earn a contract at West Ham or elsewhere and then prove himself at what will be his peak years (never knew he was 28)?

Or will he do a Jelavic? Barnstorming half a season only to slip back into being hit and miss?

I think he was the one who changed the game at Palace for Newcastle as well Colin.

Rob Halligan
10 Posted 17/04/2021 at 14:02:51
Will West Ham be able to afford Lingard, Danny? Rumour is that West Ham will need to sell before they can buy, with talk of Rice and Soucek being allowed to leave. Plus the fact that Man Utd will either want him back or want around 㿔M - 㿞M for him, following his upturn in form with West Ham.
Colin Glassar
11 Posted 17/04/2021 at 14:08:29
The latter, Danny. Everything's going his way right now but he blows hot and cold usually.

Steve Bruce and his cowardly tactics🙄🙄

I fancy West Brom to stay up and Newcastle to go down. A draw will do so West Ham don't get too far away from us if they aren't already

Danny O’Neill

I didn't realise that Rob. Both how much United are reportedly expecting and also that West Ham are reportedly having to sell.
Rob Halligan
18 Posted 17/04/2021 at 14:24:29
Danny, with every goal Kean scores for one of the best teams in Europe, in a piss poor French league, some on TW add a few more million quid to his value.

Lingard is scoring in the toughest league in the world, so why shouldn't his value increase with every goal he scores? The fact that Lingard is a few years older than Kean shouldn't make any difference.

Colin Glassar
19 Posted 17/04/2021 at 14:24:47
According to the commentators, only Chelsea and the rs can catch WHU now for 4th. Don't they realise we have a game in hand?😉

Odd thing to say Colin, considering we're only six points behind with 21 points still to play for.

It's the Moyes syndrome, Rob, we're still suffering from it. Do you know we've never finished above Arsenal in the Premier League? Another embarrassing stat.
Barry Rathbone
23 Posted 17/04/2021 at 14:56:55
As soon as Moyes hit 4th and poll position for a CL spot the die was cast.

No one snatches defeat from the jaws of victory like the overrated one cut him in half and "LOSER" runs through him like words on a bar of rock.

The excuse brigade will be in overdrive upon confirmation of the top 4 at season end without the hammers. Wouldn't be surprised if he had them fighting relegation next term.

Joe McMahon
26 Posted 17/04/2021 at 15:16:37
Rob - they were down to 10 men. I'd swap positions with them and many of their players easily certainly Rice, Lingard and Jarrod Bowen.

Colin I never knew that, it's shocking, and we ain't gonna do it this time either. I know we haven't won on their patch since 1996 (Joe Royle). We really do have some shocking records.

Rob Halligan
29 Posted 17/04/2021 at 15:21:28
Kunal, Leicester and Chelsea will be third and fourth.
Danny O’Neill
30 Posted 17/04/2021 at 15:23:09
Totally agree Rob. If a player in his prime is good, he's good. I personally never get the age argument. Especially the situation we are in now. I want us to do something now, not wait another decade on the hope the latest batch of kids out of Finch Farm do something that realistically only Manchester United have done twice to my knowledge. Happy to be called out otherwise by the way, but the so-called Fergie's Fledglings (my lifetime - awful name) and Busby Babes are the only model I can think of. Everyone else has generally achieve success through external investment with the odd local hero thrown into the mix.

The cult of Moyes disciples will stalk this club till we win something and return to something we once thought of as birthright - being challengers

He has had opportunities at the top AND bottom of English football including a stint abroad and done fuck all but It matters not a jot a fleeting moment of apparent success at the irons means he is once again the Moyesiah.

It's a cult

Disagree Rob. RS finding a bit of form in the league now, think they'll pip Leicester to it probably on the last day. We'll see.
Danny O’Neill
37 Posted 18/04/2021 at 12:03:24
6th or 7th still very much on.

On one hand it will be good to see fans back today for the semi final. On the the, slightly odd given they won't be supporters of the clubs, just local residents. I think that's how I understood it.

I only saw the second half of the Arsenal game, until the two substitutes came on near the end it looked like even Rodriguez could bully that Arsenal team, they were very poor with little fight.
Ajay Gopal
45 Posted 18/04/2021 at 15:49:38
How was the Arsenal equalising goal not offside? Can someone please explain that to me? Just a very bizarre decision, IMO. Most unfair on Fulham, but it could also have consequences on the European places.
Rob Halligan
46 Posted 18/04/2021 at 16:04:56
Ajay, the only player in an "offside position" was Holding, but he wasn't in the eyeline of the keeper when the shot came in and he made no attempt to play the ball after the keeper saved it, plus there was a slight deflection off a Fulham defender as well. That's all I can think of!!
Colin Glassar
48 Posted 18/04/2021 at 16:11:42
I only watched the 2nd half of that game but I have no sympathy at all for the Fulham players (Scott Parker, yes) as they are a bunch of useless cowards!

Where do some of these players learn to play football? On PlayStation or Xbox? I ask because too many of them can't do even the basics eg tackle, use their bodies to protect the ball, clear their lines etc...

The modern player (not all) seems to be terrified of any physical contact. When they are touched, they go to ground screaming like little piglets.

I know we've gone over this millions of times but the modern, multi-millionaire players make me sick with their play acting, cowardice and shitty hairstyles. Bring back the mullet and the three pack a day player!

Just watching Moss running back after a Man Utd breakaway near the end of the game, fuckin' hilarious!!
Jeff Armstrong
51 Posted 18/04/2021 at 18:08:06
No Bill, but Cavani looked offside when Van de Beeke received the ball, not even a var review, and on the same day United put 2 fingers up to the whole of the football world and said we do what we want, and don't even question us, because as a big club they get away with anything they want.
Jeff Armstrong

Good result for Leeds. Love teams who snatch victory away from RS at the end. The RS have done the late show so many times they must hold the record for stealing the points.

This is yet another opportunity for Everton to finish higher and even better if they can get ahead of RS.

The trouble is Everton have forgotten how to win games.

Rob Halligan

Southampton have had two or three really good chances to take the lead so far against Spurs. A Southampton win, or at least a draw is needed.

I think every fan of the 14 thinks the same way right now. The six of them are utterly despised. Apologies to all the decent Spurs, Arse, Chelsea, City, Utd fans I know, but it's going to take a long time for me to have any sympathy for any of those clubs, unless they're playing the Shite, in which case I hope they both lose.

Michael “it's going to take a long time for me to have any sympathy for any of those clubs, unless they're playing the Shite, in which case I hope they both lose.”

I think you've just found the right penalty for the greedy 6! All they'd be playing for would be goal difference.

Rob Halligan
72 Posted 21/04/2021 at 21:16:00
Spurs penalty, Dave? A penalty all day long. Could have been given for handball but the challenge on the edge of the area was a foul, and initially given just outside the box, but the foul was committed on the line, which is part of the penalty area, so right decision, unfortunately for us. Think red card was also right. Stones was late and high. No complaints there from me.
Jeff Armstrong
73 Posted 21/04/2021 at 21:21:22
Stones having a typical John Stones half there, always been mistakes in him, he knuckled down, got back in the team and then the England set up, now he's in a comfort zone his concentration levels have dropped... again.
Dave Abrahams
