Everton Under-18s fell to 4-1 defeat against Newcastle United at Finch Farm in a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.

Blues skipper Lewis Warrington got on the scoresheet — the midfielder equalising on 20 minutes following the opener for the visitors — but the away side scored again before half-time, then added two late goals for a very flattering scoreline.

This game saw a very rare appearnace of Rafael Garcia, who has been on Everton's books for a while now but has not been getting any games, possibly as a result of long-term injury?

Everton U18s: Leban, Mallon, Lowey [Y:] (73' Barker), Welch [Y], Hagan, Butterfield, Quintyne, Jagne, Cannon, Warrington, Heath (59' Garcia).
Subs not Used: Stewart, Kristensen, Tierney.

Reported on TW 22 Oct 2019 that Rafael Garcia was rehabbing from injured ACL. Seems to have taken longer than hoped (perhaps Covid disrupted his schedule). Did he seem raring to go?

Ah, thanks, Si. I vaguely remembered something like that. The obligatory serious injury that most of our young players suffer in their 'development'. 16 months in recovery.
