Bayern to decide Zirkzee's destination

| Tuesday, 26 January 2021 51comments  |  Jump to last
Joshua Zirkzee is almost certain to leave Bayern Munich this month, with Sky Germany claiming it is now a straight choice between Everton and Parma.

According to the report, both clubs have agreed an initial loan arrangement with an obligation to buy for €10 million at the end of the season.

Both Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti have played down specualtion that the Blues will be making moves to bring anyone in this month, but with Cenk Tosun omitted from the matchday squad against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday and the subject himself of reports he could move on before the deadline, it could be that Everton elect to bring someone in to replace him.

Zirkzee, who had a trial with Everton a few years ago, is said to be happy with whichever of the two clubs Bayern decide to do business with this month.

Be excellent if this is true. Tosun out and Zirkee in is an upgrade.

Sounds like Marcel Brands really fancies this lad and has convinced Ancelotti that he is another shrewd aquisition. He may choose Parma though for more guarantees of game time.

Surely it's up to the lad and not Bayern where he goes, after all, there's a 10m Euro obligation to buy after the 6 month loan. Find it hard to believe the lad would just let Bayern decide where he goes to play.

I should think he'd opt to join Carlo and the club contending for Europe rather than relegation, but the appeal to play every week might swing it the other way.

If both we and Parma are offering the same deal to Bayern and they are definitely going to sell at the end of the season, then it doesn't matter to them where he ends up, so the player must surely have some say in the matter - all else being equal?

If we do get this lad. He will probably come off the bench in games we are either controlling or need something different. I cant see him starting. We haven't done too well with bringing young players in that want 1st team football. Lookman & Vlasic being examples. If he does come and is willing to take his chance then £10M could be a bargain. He would more likely get more game time at Parma. Again there is no mention of EPL competition for his services which does make me think he might not be all that.

I know he scored goals for fun at U16 level around the time we had him on trial but since going professional his scoring record isn't that impressive, despite scoring 4 for Bayern's first team.

If Kean's going to be sold (hopefully for £40m+) I think this lad would be a better prospect for the premier league. He's big and fast and at 19, and could vastly improve like Dom did. At 10m Euros he isn't going to cost more than the money we should be bringing in for Kenny. I really hope this one happens despite my misgivings about his goal scoring record for Bayern's B side

I am unsure about this one, why would Bayern, a team that scours Europe for young talent decide to let him go relatively cheap, is there something other don't know ?

We will need to sign a striker regardless of Tosun leaving or not because Tosun as a backup striker is not good enough.

DCL has suffered a hamstring injury, this is a complex injury if rushed and can reoccur so there's a possibility of more time out for Dom this season.

We can't risk being at the business end of the season and knowing our luck, being without DCL and possibly Richarlison ( not that he's really set the world alight his campaign but still).

A loan signing for a centre forward is surely achievable?

I for one hopes this will succeed.

Sure he's had issues with Flick, many young players have made mistakes, and have progressed in spite of it.
We need a second striker, a loan with a option to buy looks like a shoe-in, unless Bayern think otherwise and look to Lazio.

For transfer rumours, I generally limit myself to Fabrizio Romano on twitter. He seems most reliable and talks only really of concrete rumours.

He has stated that it is an open choice between Parma, who are offering immediate first team football, and Everton, who have "a different project" for him.

He's clearly been identified by Brands as someone for the future, and would be limited to off the bench and back up to DCL.

I imagine Kean was signed with a similar plan in mind, however Kean was clearly not happy with this.

Hopefully Zirkzee will be, and we can then sell Kean and have a bit of money to spend in the Summer. At 10million Zirkzee would be pretty risk free.

I fear like last season we will not do any business other than outgoings.

I don't know the lad but we could do with a god attacking option.

Disappointing because of the opportunities we have to achieve Europeans football.

But FFP rules etc are against us. We can't even blag more money from naming rights because we have not received final building approval for the stadium.

And further, looks like Gordon may join Branthwaite at Blackburn. Preston also interested.

Thought he might be able to get a better standard but still good experience.

The trouble is if he goes (and Cenk and Bernard too) then we have absolutely nothing in reserve.

Beskitas rumoured to want their 27m old boy back and you would imagine it would suit Cenk too. The trouble is the Turkish clubs don't part with any money, they just take it, so if he goes there it will be for peanuts and we'll probably end up buying half the bag.

BBC/SKY site claiming Parma favourite to sign the lad.
Lets see if Marcel can earn his corn.
We need this type of signing.
And at any sort of deal he looks a bargain.

John Cook, I saw that too but instead of thinking "good luck to the lad" I thought "good, f$%k off and don't come back". Not because I fundamentally lack class or because I go around wishing ill onto others generally but because I think he has played games with us. I have been criticised on here before for calling him a schister because he turned down loan moves previously. He was a dreadful signing, not his fault a) we paid TRIPLE his value to get him b) he got a bad injury but he definately hung around to take the money when he could have moved on, particularly in the summer when he messed Warnock around.

We definitely need someone to play in Richarlison's position, given the shocking form he has been in since he returned from Brazil duty earlier in the season. Can Zirkzee play that role? I thought he was a central striker, although Bayern are great believers in players being coached to play in multiple positions.

24 Posted 28/01/2021 at 14:37:49
While I'm at it Cenk can do one as well, I'm obviously in a bad mood today, the 2nd half last night did that too me. If we can shift those too (hopefully with getting £6-7M for Tosun) along with Besic, £3-4M for Kenny and a fee for Bernard that might cheer me up somewhat. If they all went and we got Zirkzee on loan with an option to buy and brought a winger I would be pretty chuffed, probably won't happen.

Hi Steve,Point taken although it was with regards his bad injury that I wished him good luck for the rest of his career. We don't really know why he seemed to fuck about unless you have better info than me.Also,he's not the only one in the history of Everton to sit on his arse after injuries, off the top of my head Williamson,G
Ibson, Bilic,Delph, etc., All guilty of swinging the lead. So agree with you the history of this club is a disgrace with the money waisted on these "professionals"

So Bolaisse gone, Cenk looks on his way, hopefully JJK to Burnley think that only leaves Besic and Delph. Surely we need a striker in now as back up or for 2 up top

I commented on one of the threads this morning that Richarlison has been out of sorts since coming back from his last international break with Brazil, has there been anything in the Brazilian press regarding Richarlison.

Not sure if Tosun is on his way the Echo report that Besiktas wanted a loan deal till the end of the season with Everton paying half his salary. I wouldn't do any loan deal especially with Turkish clubs, I cant remember the player we loaned to a Turkish club with an agreed price they would pay at the end of the loan. But come the end of the loan they only offered half the fee that was agreed at the beginning. I know Bolasie has gone on loan to Middlesbrough but haven't heard if we are paying any of his salary.

Rumours that Anthony Gordon will go out on loan to PNE. Surely, if Tosun and Gordon are leaving, there will be a striker coming in - Zirkzee?Costa?Dzekeo?
Fran Mitchell
31 Posted 28/01/2021 at 17:17:12
Think a loan would do Gordon good. Week in week out playing for a few months could really help him progress - like Harvey Barnes got at a similar age.

It does look like Tosun is on his way out too.

I take it Bernard will stay if this does happen, but we really could do with a couple of loans coming in.

Derek Knox
32 Posted 28/01/2021 at 17:23:51
There was an unsupported rumour that Usmanov was going to 'lend' the money to CSKA Moscow to buy Tosun outright, but no figure was actually mentioned, one can hope though that another peripheral player is off the books. Not the lad's fault (Fat Sam the Genius) that he came to us in an overpriced deal in the first place, he certainly knows where the goal is and has proved that on the odd occasion, but he is just not suited to either the Prem or our style of play.

Rumours again I'm afraid! We mere mortals are not privy to the goings on behind the scenes, but I have read that Zirkzee and Bayern presumably want guarantees that he will be played regularly. Well that strikes me as being a strange one, no player is guaranteed a start unless he is a bit of a superhero, or is almost surefire to score in every game. To the best of my knowledge, no player has ever existed (even Dixie Dean had games where he didn't score) who has qualified for that.

This kid is the real deal. He has the highly prized assets of physical presence WITH mastery of the ball, as rare as hen's teeth in the modern game.

If his application is as good, we should move heaven and earth to get him. Paired with Calvert-Lewin we would terrify other teams.

John Cook - there was another move that didn't materialise for Bolasie if I am not mistaken. The move to Boro at the end of the summer window was all agreed between both parties and then Warnock was quoted as saying:
"There were numerous things that happened in the afternoon and it just wasn't meant to be. I'm disappointed, but you have to move on and we'll see what happens now. 'He was disappointed, but he was partly to blame as well. There were things I should have known before four o'clock on Friday afternoon about his problems at Everton. They were problems that we couldn't overcome. Well, we tried to, and eventually we did, but it was too late.
'I've asked him why I didn't know about those problems beforehand. He said, "Well, I told my agent", but I said, "Well why didn't the bl**** agent tell us that?"
This made me ask a few questions here, smacks of sabotage, it coincided with a huge social media fuelled charm offensive on Bolasie's part to woo Evertonians. He always come across as a nice fella but despite his efforts to work his way into the squad he wasn't fancied, it makes me question why, what did the club see that we weren't privy to? It smacked of deliberate sabotage to stay on the books cashing his cheques and keep his fitness to get his move later. If that is the case then I am so pleased to see the back of him.

Being optimistic and thimble half full etc with all matters, EFC, I’m praying that the club has done or is nailing some agreement for a striker.

Ellis, is at Blackpool, Moise is out and won’t be back, Cenk, Bernard, will be gone. Due risk assessment says we are needing a proven striker, in the fact DCL and Richarlison, get injured.

Yes plenty of thought based on for,, but we need back up. Zirkzee, or who... Everton, need a back up striker option, as our goals scored ratio, is becoming a ration, e dry season, since Rom, left, but it’s the basic utility in football.

Score goals and you have a chance of winning.

Just watched Leeds, on MOTD, they look ok going forward, but if Everton play the same team as at Wolves, they can be beaten.

It seems Jordan is safe in goal but I’d start with Olsen, and start the slow rebuilding of a team. Sooner than later.

Tough love, no. Common sense, but who knows.
Tom starts, and Siggy is rested and Ben Godfrey starts, in the team, his spirit and natural commitment is equal and more than the rest of the team v The Toon, bar a couple of players, who gave a genuine.

Sledgehammer few games now, and no place to be for shirkers, but effort and belief in fekkn heaps is needed, after the crap fest witnessed at GP, v The Toon.
