Not a great start for Newcastle. Still 0-0 but down to ten men after just nine minutes after Ciaran Clark was given a straight red card for pulling Pukki down as he raced through on goal.

Newcastle 1-0. Penalty awarded after a header from a corner struck a Norwich arm, and awarded after VAR review. Norwich had the exact same penalty shout over ruled in the first half because it was deemed to be “Too near” the Newcastle defenders arm, yet the Newcastle penalty was just as near to the Norwich defender.

Rob I hope you are not saying the referee is wrong heaven forbid/ remember the amount of money behind Newcastle, I am not saying nothing is wrong but I have a feeling that Sky don't want Newcastle to go down with that much money behind them

I missed that first one but around 77 mins, the ball hits a Newcastle defender on the elbow, goes behind. Penalty? Not even looked at. Corner? No. Obvious Error? Definitely.

Newcastle need three points here if they're going to survive and the next game against Burnley. After that they have a)Leicester a)Liverpool h)Man City h)Man Utd. Can't see them getting a point from those four.

Plenty of effort by both teams, but very little in the way of goalmouth action or skilful football. It was a fast and furious game, which Norwich could have won at the death. At least the effort was there.

Officials where poor for Norwich, Shearer so biased on commentary, draw good result for us, same with Leeds v Palace.

Bad challenge by Zaha, which could easily have been a red.

Michael (6), I thought that was worth looking at for a penalty to Norwich, definitely a corner, but because it was on my small IPad I thought maybe I was wrong, referee definitely on the side of Newcastle but a draw suits the Blues even this early in the season.

Michael (21) Forshaw got 45 minutes in a European game for the Blues in a game where the result didn't matter, played quite well, wide right if I'm not mistaken, didn't come back on for the second half, might have played in another game, not sure, he'd be classed as a veteran now, a veteran we could certainly use in our dilapidated midfield. Dour Dave was the manager at the time.

Have to laugh remember when it was time for a sub to come on, they used to just take their tracksuit off and get on. now they look at a tablet for 5 min with a coach before they come on,

Forshaw was always a good player, unlucky with injuries and players ahead of him when with us, I remember him being MoM for Middlesbrough at Goodison 3 or 4 years ago, he'd walk into our side at the mo'.

How's Benteke missed that, Rondon would've buried that, like a dog with a bone!

His big moment came in that meaningless Europa League match against BATE Borisov back in 2009, when David Moyes gave lots of the kids a taste of the big time under the Goodison Park lights in a senior match.

Spells with Brentford, then Wigan then Middlesbrough, then a £4.5M move to Leeds. 5 live were saying he'd been good under Bielsa until injuries.

He was player of the year some years back in League One, which OK it's not the Premier League, but if you look at recent loanees of ours at that level some have had their moments but no one has stood out as he did. He did have a lot of injuries. For a while at Boro he was being linked with a return to the Prem. Jake Bidwell was in that Bate Borisov game too. He seems to be doing well at Swansea. The "star" of the group though was Jose Baxter who is now handing out bibs at Finch Farm.

Definitely a “proper “ player Kieran, good range of passing, great stamina, never gives up. He's been out for 2 years at Leeds but fought his way back.. again.

Well that Leeds penalty was exactly the same as the one Newcastle got, and Norwich never.

Arsenal corner, Fred stands on De Gea's foot who goes down injured, the ball is cleared to the edge of the area where Smith Rowe belts it in. Martin Atkinson not sure what to do, and I think he had blown for an "Infringement". Meanwhile after typing all this VAR recommends goal stands, so 1-0 to Arsenal.

Well... very interesting goal for Arsenal.

On an Arsenal corner, Fred had trod on De Ghea's foot, and he lay in a heap with his back to play as play continued, and Arsenal shot at goal. Atkison was looking at the goal but did not blow his whistle until after the ball had crossed the line.

De Ghea got treatment and VAR confirmed Goal, and Atkinson finally signalled for it. Very bizarre.

Would this be a case of Man Utd not being on the Sky favorite list

Man Utd players then surrounded Atkinson, I assume demanding to know why the goal wasn't disallowed? It now seems man Utd demand fouls on their players, even if the foul has been inflicted by their own players.

Arsenal should have had a penalty Maguire pulling a player down, I suppose it is they go down so easy that Arsenal never got it

Listening to the half time talk and even Paul Scholes said the Arsenal goal should have stood, but the general consent was Arsenal should have had a penalty when Maguire pulled down an Arsenal player

Bill, I think the only way the goal would not have stood is if Atkinson had blown his whistle before the ball hit the net, and I think he did blow after the ball did cross the line, but what for I don't know? Man Utd now 2-1 ahead.

A lesson in how to take a penalty.

It has cost a lot of money, but Arsenal and Arteta have put together a good side. I wonder how he'd have got on if we got him instead of Ancelotti.

Arteta was almost gone not so long ago, maybe managers need a bit of time to stamp their own mark on a team, a transfer window or 3 maybe, mistakes are made along the way but they need a bit of time.
