That's a pretty tough penalty call. Seems to hit his chest but then maybe ricochets off his upper arm. The ultimate downward trajectory off his arm means it was probably the right call.

Penalty for Man City and converted by Sterling. Was it a harsh penalty though? Appeared to hit Moutinho under his armpit then bounced onto his elbow? Whatever, City lead.

Rob, he's so shit he just dug in on a bad decision. That was close enough that no-one would fault him for switching but maybe that was VAR's fault for not overruling.

Really dreadful discussion of the penalty award. Amazing that Hoddle and Ferdinand cannot see the ball clearly coming off the back of his upper arm, above the elbow (after it hit his chest). Peter Walton was spot-on.

Exactly my thoughts Danny. The City one hit his armpit and yet still was given after VAR. Can't comment on the RS and Chelsea until I've seen them but wouldn't be at all surprised if the marginal decisions have gone their way

Agree with City's being a bad call. Thought Saladman deserved his because Ming bad his arm in while somewhat diving forward. Chelsea's looked a gift considering it was Rudiger(?) but I only saw one angle

Chelsea's second penalty was clear, Leeds player kicked Rudigers foot from behind.

Mings gets done but I don't have a problem with the arm across the body. Centre Back union and all that. He didn't seem to grab him, so it's the next movement that gives the penalty for me. He looks like he stumbled or slipped and his momentum took him into Salah.

The second Chelsea one raises the question of where your football ethos and honesty lies.

There is a kick, but Rudiger makes sure he gets the decision.

Some will point to him going down way too easy and it's a soft penalty. Others that he felt the contact, went down to get a decision in the probability he was just about to effectively win the game for his team with the last kick of the game.

Chelsea's first penalty was a stonewaller. Don't even know how the referee missed it. VAR advised him to look at the pitch side monitor and he correctly gave it.

In my opinion, he'd have been better carrying on as he'd have away from Karbak.

Watching the Norwich v Man Utd game and the Number 23 for Norwich was having a good game with a wand of a left foot and his gait was very similar to Dowell, our former player. Alas it wasn't him. I thought his potential had finally come to fruition, still time?

Watching the very brief highlights available on the Sky Sports App earlier, once again, Villa's keeper continues to impress me.

Norwich were playing well. Debatable penalty against Ronaldo but you knew it would not be changed.

I think Aarons showed a bit of inexperience and naivety.

Put your arms up and make contact against a player like Ronaldo and he's going down. Same as Rudiger with the kick earlier. Both made sure they drew the decision.

Random observation and would be interested in the US cohort's few on John Sargent. Far too often in this match he's tried an extra touch or tried to do something complicated when an easier option was on.

I think with the two penalties that Liverpool and Man Utd were awarded, it helped that the two players tackled were Salah and Ronaldo. A lot of other clubs might not have got those decisions in their favour.

It came up on screen that Ronaldo has taken 174 penalties in his career!!

Steven Gerrard said after the game: "It was a game of two penalties, they got theirs, we never got ours, it feels harsh.” Now he knows how dozens of teams have felt when they have gone home from Anfield, cheated.

Oh dear... hopefully not speaking too soon but Newcastle struggling to turn things around. All very well saying they are the richest club in the world which is probably not correct anyway.

Amusing discussion between Souness and Pardew pre match.

Regardless of opinions on either, Pardew's comment that "its not always the aim of a big club to win trophies" was met with bemusement and a shaking of the head by the former Kopite.

Says a lot about the mentality of that era of British managers. I mean Pardew by that.

Newcastle look terrible hopefully we repeat the Arsenal atmosphere and performance on the 30th. Would like to see the Koeman/Walsh dream team manage them. Even they might struggle to burn through £320Bn of blood money but they'd have a good go.
