Anyone watching Villa v Leeds? Leeds are looking very sharp and dangerous...it's gonna be a massive game on Saturday. For us more than them.

We missed out on Coutinho. I'd have had him in a heartbeat. Another mistake. In fact well done. You put the mockers on them big style.

Danny, that stubborn shithouse Benitez probably didn't want him. Lampard may have done, but we'll never know.

Villa down to 10 men

If Leeds put as much in against us as tonight, we have no chance.

Leeds never stop running. Where do they get the energy from?.

Leeds are gonna put our flimsy central midfield and awfull defence to the sword on Saturday. No clean sheet (again) for our Boss Keeper.

Just hope Leeds will be knackered on Saturday after the effort put in tonight. We, on the other hand, should be fresh.

They get their energy from doing loads of running in training, I think I've read somewhere, Paul.

I was reading that some of them are doing 5-km runs in crazy times. (I'm sure I read around 16 minutes, but it might have been just under 18 minutes) and they also look like they enjoy playing football whenever I watch Leeds play.

It will be interesting to see what tactics Everton adopt. My own guess being that Lampard's biggest instruction will be to play the game in their half, until we have settled down anyway.

I watched the closing stages of the game at Villa without the commentary. Both teams looked out on their feet by the time 8 minutes were added on.

Leeds have only 2 days to recover. I hope we start at a quick tempo on Saturday, get the ball forward early, and put them under pressure. Their defence is as suspect as ours.

Frank will need to make good use of the bench to maintain energy levels in the second half. We desperately need to win with a couple of the teams below us actually beginning to play better than a few of those above us.

Play in their half? More like see if we can get in their half!

I've seen us have a few days rest advantage or even a week – it makes no difference to us. We either turn up or we don't.

That's Leeds and Saints who are bound to win because they are oh so superior, then we have the obligatory defeats to Man City and Spurs that leaves 13 games to save our season. Wolves and Watford will probably turn us over too, now we're down to 11 games.

Of course all of the above is possible, in some heads it might even seem highly probable, but honestly what is the point if we are beaten days and even weeks in advance of any fixture being played?

If we can't or don't want to believe in our own team, then we may as well blood a team of kids and accept our fate right now.

Results today have helped us but we need to help ourselves.

We are finding it difficult just to get a draw no matter who we play. That has to change quickly.

We have to score some goals as we cannot seem to keep a clean sheet. All we got yesterday was an own goal.

If Frank can get some good shifts from Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin now that they are back, perhaps with some real support from the rest, the goals will come.

The malaise all started with the loss of Calvert-Lewin and then Richarlison, followed by some ineffective displays from Rondon which put added pressure on Townsend and Gray who, to be fair,r did chip in with some goals, but the midfield fell apart and it's been a struggle ever since.

Leeds are no world beaters but we find a way to lose to other very average teams such as Watford etc.

Hopefully at last that may change come Saturday.

We have to help ourselves. Forget everyone else. Our destiny is still in our own hands. Take control of it.

The Leeds comments make interesting reading. Talking to mates, they tend to follow a pattern that arguably held them back from getting back to the Premier League earlier than they eventually did. They expend so much energy that they tend to fade, both in individual games but mostly over the course of a season.

Leeds are falling apart; a phrase coined by my Leeds supporting friends by the way.

I'd love to have their energy and commitment, but it's sustainability is questionable hence them only being once place above us in the league and us having a game in hand after we beat them on Saturday.

I've noticed, certainly in the last couple of weeks that in other games both teams are now coming onto the pitch at the same time, or at least lining up in the tunnel side by side, yet the away team at Goodison is still using the portakabin in the car park. Does anyone know if this likely to remain?
