Frank has adjusted the way he wants to play, for a more pragmatic, yet still "attacking" approach. Our LB and RBs yesterday didn't bomb forward the way Frank normally likes to play. They were far more conservative and it paid off.

I really, really like Frank Lampard. I can't understand any call for him to be removed.

How did we lose to Burnley?

If we win at home against Leicester, it will be massive.

I'd say it would equate to us very likely staying up. I can't see us not getting 6 or so points from a remaining 7 games.

Individual, costly errors. We're a better football team by far.

It's the individual errors that have killed us. I'd argue a LOT of them have been from Mason Holgate. Him not being in the lineup yesterday was helpful. He's cost us so many goals. I'd like to see him moved on quite frankly.

But then again, I never wanted Delph on the pitch, and he played superbly yesterday, so what do I know?

Looking at Burnley's remaining fixtures, I reckon they could still get 9-10 points. That'd mean we need 6-7 to stay ahead of them.

Would be nice to get 3-4 of them out of the next 3 games, but either way we're going to need results against Palace, Watford and Brentford. Got to win 2 of those 3 I think.

It's unlikely given our away form but, if we can get 4 points from our away matches, that should see us safe.

Three wins for us and it's game over, and if we'd beaten Burnley then it would be done and dusted.

Well, to me, today was another example of refereeing and the VAR giving different treatment for the favourite 6 and the rest of the Premier League.

The other nonsense is the suggestion that this was a game of consistent thrills. In fact, much of the second half was scrappy and mediocre. Never mind, though, Skyshite knows the truth.

City should have been home and dry by half time.

The referee was a coward and Thiago should have been off, and he let the RS off with murder.

City didn't get the slice of luck needed with the run of the ball in the RS box, hopefully they can turn them over at Wembley.

Grealish could have released the ball for another chance before Mahrez's free-kick, and against any other team, Mahrez would have scored at the end.

So let's hope Everton have a full squad to select from for Leicester...

The game is so much about possession these days and that does make football very boring.

The way to stop it is to high press and the teams that do it well usually do better than the rest.

City are the masters at possession but all credit to them they are usually in their opponents half and their ball control is brilliant. Sometimes I think they don't realize how good they really are. They should have won this game going away.

I do miss the likes of Aguero and Silva, as they, in their prime, had no equals.

For once, a pretty good weekend for us Evertonians.

Watched the last 20 minutes or so. It's really disappointing watching these two clubs. Yes, they're monied, but 'they' haven't spent wildly and 'they' play beautiful football – something I don't say lightly, and frankly don't want to say.

It's crushing to watch as we've spent, and just not seen the return frankly.

But it's 70 degrees, blinding sun, 'they' didn't win, we got some help from Norwich for crying out loud, things could be much, much worse.

Tony, I think the teams gradually cancelled each other out as tiredness set in; it was nothing special later on - and the changes had little real impact.

What is light years ahead though is the overall competence and refinement, the self belief of the players and understanding of their job. Very few of the kind of mistakes we see every few minutes. Obviously a lot of it is down to the level of player but not all.

Helps knowing all your players will likely remain on the pitch too...

What part of Sterling's body was offside, because it wasn't his feet, and it's why I think the VAR is very inconsistent, especially when you consider the goal that Liverpool scored in the cup against Nottm Forest. It's ended up costing me a right few quid, that decision, although Mahrez was equally culpable right at the end I suppose.

I thought the first half was brilliant, especially the way City just manipulated the ball keeping Liverpool penned in. Liverpool are very dangerous on the break though, they can turn any little mistake into a fast counter-attack, and those two teams have either raised the bar or the rest of the Premier League have gone backwards

I thought it was a cracking game between two phenomenal sides. Wanted City to win but as long as it's them and not the other lot I'm happy.

I would just like to say what a wonderful feeling us Evertonians have had today, knowing our safety in the Premier League is of a greater chance than one could've anticipated on Wednesday late evening. Is all this nervousness late in the season better than nothing to play for?

Personally, I don't think so... but seeing our fantastic supporters staying and bellowing support after our win instead of just trudging away before the end of the game makes me proud.

I know I get angry watching these dire referee decisions but there wasn't as much atmosphere at the end of who is going to win the league game as there was at the end of our game.

So maybe our passion is really coming out now because we can see our entire future relies on us.

Anyway, I for one am proud of each and every one of us.

Chelsea played well but they are vulnerable on defence especially when you just knew Madrid would throw everything at them. Sadly for Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek is not of the standard of the rest of the team.

That game tonight Thugletico Madrid v Man City will be to Liverpool's advantage on Sunday, they were physically and verbally mauled by Simone's talented but thuggish team with Simone leading the verbals, a disgrace leading him to get one of the many yellow cards plus a red one, a very good fit team who didn't need the necessary aggression on and off the ball.

City won the game and went through but I fear that game will take a lot out of them in the next few weeks, starting with losing Walker and DBryune on Sunday, a great defensive battle by City but at what cost!!

That referee for the City game was crap.

Athletico where out to cripple a few early on and Felipe should have been booked for his first foul on Foden. He missed a lot and that encouraged Atletlico to carry on with the same crap.

Cannot see why Pep. won't start Grealish who would have gotten a few decisions inside the box. He is a more dangerous player than Mahrez who is one footed and messes up too often when in good positions.

Tom (178), Pep doesn't play Grealish because he has had plenty of chances to impress but he hasn't, one reason is he doesn't work hard enough, skill is not enough at City you have to be a team player, Grealish isn't, he was a big fish in a small pond at Villa he is just part of the furniture at City, up to now.

In the next few weeks Grealish will play more, he is a good player and has the ability to fit in at City but he's got to play for the whole time he is on the field, I think he could have a better impact next season when he has got used to City's game but hope he uses the rest of this season to try and impose himself into the game.

Walker's injury self imposed as you say will still leave City without one of their key men and without De Bruyne as well Liverpool will feel a lot more confident going into Sundays game.

De Bruyne is probably the best player in the Premier League in my opinion. A big miss.

I watched Grealish develop and agree, he was a superstar at Villa, where it was mainly all about him. Now he is surrounded by better players and doesn't instantly command a place or is the main man.

He can adjust, but will need to adapt. Pep is good at managing players and egos. Slightly different, but he done it with Foden. When the English media were clamouring for his regular inclusion at a young age, Guardiola managed his career carefully and introduced him gradually.

West Ham will probably win the Europa League… just sums up the lack of success at this club.

Funny that two of our managers so derided by some are now taking their respective teams into Euro semis whilst another is winning the Championship at a canter.

I've spent years telling anyone who would listen that Moyes will never win a major trophy. Now, I kinda hope I'm wrong as I think his career and the way he's recovered from the United disaster, deserves a trophy.

Maybe if they don't have to play any really big names then they can pull it off but I still think he'll come up just short.

Well I wanted Moyes back. Finishing 5th or 6th is a dream now a days.

I think if we had Noble as captain then passing the band on to Rice we would have done alright. It's not the Moyes effect all alone and yes Carlo looks fairly good now that the latte haters got their wish. He did say something decent about Everton when we really could use any praise offered when asked about leaving which was due to a specific clause in his contract with us.

Lee@189, that's a really good post imo mate, and like yourself I hope West Ham can win the EUFA cup. I remember playing at West Ham not long after Ancellotti arrived at Everton, and Moyes at the Hammers, and drawing 1-1, and feeling much happier to have our new manager, rather than the old one, who if you believed the speculation, had very nearly returned to Everton once again.

He has done well for West Ham though and definitely looks much calmer and more experienced for his failures since leaving his “very cosy job” at Everton, who are now, sadly the club, that lack that very stability, that gave David Moyes, such a cushy number.

Life moves on, my own view is that Kenwright, was the greatest winner and Everton the biggest losers, because David Moyes did a very competent job for his Chairman, but was this really what Everton club had ever existed for, before this?

Good luck West Ham, and good luck Glasgow Rangers, (from a catholic boy!) because it's great being a football fan, when your team has a chance of winning some silverware, and only when you win, can you genuinely say, the people have had some “good times” - especially if you're presiding over the longest barren spell in the club's history.

I wish West Ham well as I do my family relative, David Moyes.

I just don't think he is what I want or wanted over time for Everton.

The fact that after 35 years without a league title that we still hold the 4th highest count in English football tells you where are standards used to be and should be. We are not West Ham or Newcastle. We are Everton. Don't make me quote Sir John Moores.

My standards for Everton are high and won't change regardless of whoever tries to beat the expectation out of me.

Ray (10), yes Ray you could be right about Big Sam and he couldn't give WBA his magic formula last season plus he doesn't come cheap and Burnley don't pay big wages!!

Tony (211), well we had our chance a couple of weeks ago when we played them, they were there for the taking but we blew it as we did against Burnley and when you read Paul Clement saying these lads really want it you have to question their attitude although they really fought well last Saturday albeit against a United squad that have plenty of good players but can't make a team out of them.

It's all or nothing for me and Moyes gave us nothing.
People forget that we are one of the historic big boys of English football.
