Everton U18s 1 - 0 Newcastle Utd U18s [20']

Everton U18s seek to continue their improving league campaign, looking for their fourth win in a row as they take on billionaire club Newcastle Utd at Finch Farm. Kick-off is at 12:30 BST.

Luke Butterfield starts for the U18s, having come on as a sub for the U23s against Arsenal last night, with Martin Sherif and Emilio Lawrence both missing from the normal line-up — and there are only three players on the Everton subs bench.

Halid Djankpata got Everton off to a great start with a goal after just 8 minutes. But the visitors giot a goal back in the second half and that's how it finished.

Everton U18s: Leban, Mallon, Wright, Jones, Tierney, Butterfield, Heath, Metcalfe, Djankpata, Coughlan (79' Smikle-James), Barker. Subs not Used: Stewart, Wilson.

1-1 was the final score.

The U16s are away in a tournament, so U18s regulars Sherif, Lawrence and Samuels-Smith are with them. They've topped their Group and are in the semi-final of the tournament which takes place Sunday, possibly the Final on Sunday too if they reach it.

Phill, thanks as ever for the update. The prospect of seeing these kids fulfil their potential in the first team keeps the hope alive on an otherwise crap day.

It seems from a quick Google search that the U16s lost to Chelsea 2-1 in the final.

Thanks Phill.

I was wondering where they were... Why only 3 subs for the U18s...
