Former Chairman Dr Marsh passes away
Former Everton FC Chairman, Dr David Marsh, MBE has died at the age of 88.
Dr Marsh chaired the club for three years prior to Peter Johnson's takeover of the Blues in 1994, overseeing the return of Howard Kendall for a second spell as manager in his first year and was responsible for hiring Mike Walker two years later.
Dr Marsh presided over the period in those crucial early years of the nascent Premier League, which had been founded under his predecessor, Sir Philip Carter's partial guidance.
Away from football, Dr Marsh had been president of the Lancashire and English Golf Unions between 1973 and 1975 and he was made captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in 1990, the most prestigious office in world golf. He twice won the English Amateur, represented England on 75 occasions and helped the Great Britain and Ireland team win the Walker Cup in 1971.
He was awarded the MBE for services to amateur golf.

Dr David Marsh dies and Bill jumps on it as a way to act like he's on death's door again so fans don't protest at his running of the club.

“Almost the last words he said to me at the Chelsea game were, ‘I worry about you Bill, you have to take some rest'. I laughed and replied … ‘I want to be like you. You're the healthiest near 90-year-old I've ever metâ€.
Sent shivers down my spine - he will have his claws into our club until his dying breath is how I interpreted that.
I also interpreted it that Dr Marsh was politely saying “do us all a favour and get out of our clubâ€
