Everton beat Villa in final warm-up match
As he was in the second exhibition game in Australia, Neil Maupay was on target in Everton's friendly win over Aston Villa
Everton hosted Aston Villa in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Goodison Park and ran out 2-0 winners as the resumption of the Premier League programme on Boxing Day approaches.
Anthony Gordon and Neal Maupay were on target for the Blues, who also gave minutes to the likes of Stanley Mills.
Jordan Pickford, meanwhile, was in action following his exploits for England in Qatar, producing saves to deny Ludwig Augustinsson and John McGinn.
Everton return to full competitive action on Monday when bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers come to Merseyside with new manager, Julen Lopetegui, taking charge of his first match since succeeding Bruno Lage before the break for the World Cup.
Toffees boss, Frank Lampard, will be hoping that his charges can hit the ground running having stumbled into the international hiatus with three successive defeats in all competitions.

I cannot find any information on the starting line-up, or details of any substitutions, but I assume most of the first-team squad were involved at some point or another.

There is a report on the Everton website has a number of players mentioned including two goalies, Pickford first half and Begovic in the second half. Patterson had a hand in the first goal with Iwobi and McNeil creating the second. Tarkowski and Mykolenko played, so a near enough first team, and Villa also had a strong team out.

Still think we need a foray into the Transfer Market, with some more deadwood and long-term sicknotes being thrown in, even as make-weights to get them off the books. Traditionally, the January Window is never really a good Market Place, but we have had a few gems in the past, so there is always 'hope'. A word that is always associated with us supporters, for far too long now.

Derek. Gargling mulled wine (Gluhwein in German or Glogg in the Scandics).
Stop putting ideas in my head. You know us ex military types can't resist a challenge or temptation!!!

Interesting it looks like our strongest line-up but they also mentioned Mills. Wonder of he started or was off the bench but maybe a sign we will see more of him in the coming months?
