I know it’s hard with everything going on, but I thought I would post something more light hearted as it’s still a long wait until Bournemouth and our next win, but let’s have a go. Feel free to add to the list.
Have a think as I’m sure I’ve missed some, but underrated Everton players over the years. Caveat that I can only talk from my own lifetime. I’m sure the older generations will have a few in mind. Here we go.
Mike Pegic. A tough player, broken legs, but one of the earliest players I remember.
Duncan McKenzie. He was magic as the song went. But never really lived up to the expectation consistently. I loved watching him as a youngster though.
John Bailey. What a character. But Howard replaced him with Van Den Hauwe, which proved and astute move. That goal at Norwich lives with me forever.
Alan Harper and Kevin Richardson. Unassuming, hardworking but we were that good, they couldn’t secure a regular place in our team when all were fit. To quote Neville Southall, Harper could play in every position on the pitch and probably did.
Paul Power. Many eyebrows raised, but what an astute signing and won a league title with Everton.
Neil Pointon. Not the greatest, but worked hard.
Ian Snodin. Very versatile and was more successful when switched to right back. A shame that injury blighted his career.
Wayne Clarke. Just for that goal that stopped them becoming the Invincibles before Arsenal.
Graham Stuart. Always welcome at Goodison. Diamond. The Wimbledon match and his appearance on the Ballad of Dixie and Kenny singing along to Bitter Twisted and Proud.
Joe Parkinson. Unsung hero. Very combative and a shame that injuries caused him to retire at a relatively young age before he was 30.
Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman. Took a lot of stick from certain quarters, but loyal servants to the club. Hibbert was a solid defender. Riot!! Osman technically gifted and could weigh in with goals.
