Everton have exercised a club option to extend Idrissa Gueye’s contract by another year while a new 12-month deal has been offered to Ashley Young.
The base terms of Gueye’s existing deal were due to expire this summer but, following an impressive season in midfield, the Blues have opted to keep the Senegal international for a further year.
Club captain Seamus Coleman is already mulling a new one-year deal and Young has also been offered the chance to stay beyond his 39th birthday.
The veteran full-back was signed as a free agent last summer following his departure from Aston Villa and he has made 33 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
There has been no move to keep André Gomes whose five-year contract is also up this summer. The Portuguese is currently Everton’s highest earner but has only made four starts for the Toffees this term after spending last season on loan at Lille.
Back-up goalkeeper, Andy Lonergan, will also depart the Club at the end of the season along with loanees Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison.
Everton have announced that they will continue their dialogue with Leeds about bringing Harrison back next season, either on loan or on a permanent basis. In the latter case, much will depend on whether the Yorkshire club earn promotion back to the Premier League via the playoffs this month.
Dele Alli will also be out of contract but will continue his recovery from hip surgery at Everton with Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, saying: “Both Sean [Dyche] and I agree it is important we ensure Dele’s rehabilitation is not impacted by his contract situation at such a critical point in his recovery.”
