Johan Hammar joined Everton at the age of 16 from hometown club Malmo and the defender has since gone on to become a title winner in his native Sweden.
Johan recently caught up with Ell Bretland on the SQaF Untold YouTube channel to look back on his time with the Toffees.
From getting a telling off from David Moyes, to facing Paul Pogba and Raheem Sterling in the reserves and playing alongside Ross Barkley and Eric Dier, his 3-year spell at Goodison set him up to be a champion in his homeland.
Leaving Merseyside in 2013 after realising he wasn’t suited to English football, Everton supported him and he took advice from the likes of David Weir, Kevin Sheedy and Duncan Ferguson.
Hammar returned to Scandinavia and also revealed all on what Zlatan Ibrahimovic is really like, his friendship with RB Leipzig star Emil Forsberg and the incredible job Graham Potter did during his time with Ostersunds.
Now playing for BK Hacken, Johan has enjoyed a hectic summer of European qualifying matches all over the continent after winning the title last season.
From Wales to the Faroe Islands, Lithuania to Scotland, Hammar and his team-mates are now gearing up to face Bayer Leverkusen, Molde and Qarabag in the Europa League.
Hammar also provides incredible insight into what it is like to be in the title race with Hacken currently battling Malmo and Elfsborg at the top of the table this 2023 Allsvenskan season.
Johan still keeps an eye on the Blues but admits he finds the ‘Contract Dave’ memes amusing having got to know Harrison during his time with Everton.
Here, he also offers a current professional’s perspective on Everton, revealing players certainly listen to noise around a club before joining. He also offers his thoughts on where he believes the club is going wrong as they continue to struggle at the wrong end of the Premier League table.
