Liverpool U18s 2 – 1 Everton U18s
Everton U18s made the short trip to Kirkby where they scored first but lost at the death to local rivals Liverpool in the U18 Premier League today.
Still without a win or a point in a very poor start to the season, Leighton Baines will be hoping to inspire his rock-bottom charges to an unlikely victory against their high-riding hosts who are second only to Manchester Utd in the league table.
The Blues got off to a great start with Martin Sherif scoring after just 6 minutes. But the Reds responded immediately with a goal of their own. And that’s the way it stayed through half-time.
That’s how it stayed right through till the 96th minute, despite Sherif hitting the post from 1 yard out and George Pickford making a number of impressive saves. But he was finally beaten with virtually the last kick of the game.
