Everton’s home game against Liverpool will need to be rearranged following the latter’s progress to the last eight of the FA Cup.
The Goodison derby was originally scheduled for 16 March but, with the Reds now in action that weekend against Manchester United at Old Trafford, a new date will need to be found for the all-Mersey clash.
That will pose a challenge for the Premier League, particularly if Liverpool go deep into the Europa League as, with international fixtures resuming this month, there are almost no free weekdays available.
It has thrown up the possibility that the derby could be played in the final week of the season, prior to the final Sunday but, as yet, there has been no indication of the likely date.
The change to the originally scheduled date means that Everton will now have a three-week break between their own trip to Old Trafford on Saturday week and their next game away at Bournemouth at the end of the month.
