A new rumour that emerged this afternoon suggesting that Dominic Calvert-Lewin was a loan target for AS Roma has apparently been dismissed by Everton.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma were contemplating whether to try to negotiate a deal for the frontman in the coming weeks as they seek a replacement for Tammy Abraham who ruptured an ACL towards the end of last season.
The report claimed that Calvert-Lewin has been offered to the Italian giants but Mail Sport now say that sources from the Blues have played the talk down.
While West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca has been heavily linked with a switch to Stadio Olimpico, a transfer is yet to be completed, throwing up the possibility of alternatives entering the equation.
Roma would supposedly only be in ‘a zero-cost loan with the option to buy’, rather than paying a significant portion of the player’s wages and a mandatory clause, and the original report in Italy suggested that Calvert-Lewin would be happy to make the move to Rome while Everton may be willing to allow their star man a chance to kick-start his career in the hope of boosting his valuation.
