According to the notoriously unreliable Football Insider, Ben Godfrey has turned down multiple offers to extend his contract at Everton, and next season will enter the final year of his current deal that ends in June 2025.
The young defender has had a mixed time at Goodison Park, starting impressively but then suffering through injury and the effects of Long Covid.
Sean Dyche largely ignored his presence on the substitutes bench for the first half of last season, despite Seamus Coleman being out injured for much of that time.
However, the manager made greater use of him in the New Year, giving him a run of 9 starts in the Premier League as he searched in vain for something to end a dreadful mid-season winless streak.
Ironically, when Godfrey was dropped for the Burnley game in April, Everton secured their first win in almost 4 months.
There may be interest for his signature this summer, in the shape of AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, but any move will depend on Everton accepting the valuation placed on him; otherwise, he will be expected to leave as a free agent after completing his 5th season at the club.
